Hi from sunny Australia. I have just joined NECO & think the site is fantastic.
Yes, Cougars made it downunder (under the Ford badge).
Mine is a special "tricked-up" version released locally by Ford-Tickford Engineering.
It's called an FTE Cougar Eibach & is 1 of only 100 transformed.
Details -
Rio Red
5-speed manual
Full conversion to Eibach Racing Suspension
Lowered 1-inch
Bonnet Scoop
Rear "boomerang" spoiler
Front spoiler & side wings in argent color
6-stack CD
Not many around so she turns heads wherever I go.
Hope to chat with you soon.
Greetings from Oz..!

I call dibs on your headlights!
j/k man, welcome to NECO! I wanna see pics of this thing, I didn't know Tickford modded a Cougar for you Aussie's!
btw, I love the "bonnet" terminology. The Cougar has a sexy boot, with aluminium (pronounced AL-you-MIN-yum) chassis that runs on low grade petrol!

although I can appreciate your enthusiasm for our new member, I must tell you, the cougar is constructed from steel. Not Aluminium.

Welcome aboard from a fellow Aussie dweller (been back in UK for 10 years) and lived in Sydney and Perth. :) :) :)
If you check out the UK Cougar site there is a member in Perth. I am on both the NECO site and UK site. How many cats were sold in Australia?
I trust you didn't have any trouble with the red body paint fading in the sun???!!!   Used to be a problem in West Australia.

Welcome to the forums from another Aussie Cougar. Good to see another Aussie member onboard!
I'm in Sydney and there's not many here either. ProfessorSabre is in SA, Dontask I think is in QLD and there's a couple others around.
I didn't realise the "Eibach Cougars" were such a limited breed. They look great!
As for Tickford modifying them, not really... they only had the extra body and suspension enhancements but the same amount of power from the Duratec V6. Did they come with dual exhaust pipes though?
Post up some pics :)

Hi
Seems people are interested in the Tickford mods I mentioned.
Here's a couple of Australian links on the Cougar Eibach if you're interested --

They sold them for a pretty penny then. Did they come with the ST200 wheels? or did all Aussie Cougars come that way?

Looks pretty nice... you can see the lowered suspension. The hood scoop and spoiler are nice ... but those are some nice rim to come stock ;)

Only the "Eibach's" came with the ST200 wheels. The other Coug's came with the same 6 spokers that came out everywhere else. So yeah, we got stuck with the same dodgy bolt pattern as well! Eibach's also got the Visteon lips, scoop and wing, however, the side skirts had Eibach stickers on them just behind the front wheel arch.
