Drive in

It's something that has been talked about before, but not really followed up on. What if we check into taking over the Drive in across from the IRP one night?

Friday and Saturdays might not be a good night because they might be busy, but what about Thursday?

Its right across from the IRP, so everybody would know how to get there. Plus people could socialize if they wanted (set lawn chairs out by their cars) or stay inside their cars if they wanted.

If people are interested, I could check into it.

I think that's a great idea. Its a social event that still includes our cars. ;) Plus you get a movie outta the whole deal. Heh.

I think me and smitty checked it out a bit last year.. if i remember correctly the ground is all dirt/mud
so i dont know how many of the guys/gals will wanna bring their cars

I'm bringing a spare car for situations just like this where my Cougar won't make it someplace. ;)

But then again, I've taken my lowriders to various drive-ins around the country, and they usually are dirt and holes -- just be careful driving and we should all be ok.

I think this DOES get mentioned every year, but its lost in the process of doing everything else.

Well, I just checked on the drive in across from the IRP and apparently its for sale right now :(

The one Jason linked to is also in Indy, I'll check on its location and availability and see if its a possibility

IL NECO did a drive in a couple years back... and it was a ton of fun. It gained a lot of attention from other people asking about the cars, and we got there early enough it was still a very social event.

Oh, one important factor - if you get the chance to talk to them, don't forget to ask the condition of the parking lot...

I can't imagine many drive-ins having paved lots... so it might be gravel? maybe potholes? - we would need to know :)


and it would be a wise decision to come up with a "seating plan" so we dont all peel in there and play bumper cars to park beside whom we want... heh.
