I'm kinda new to this......I was wondering how would I be able to get the complete Supercharger parts? What sites, what would ad more HP? As in the intercooler, pipes, etc.....and also what would be best for the car, turbo or supercharger? I'm mainly interested in supercharger....please let me know. Thanks

there is not a supcharger kit for the 4cyl cougar. there is one for the focus, but you will have to do some retro fitting to get it to work. I would go ahead and go with a turbo system for the cougar. but that too will have to be a custom job.

the super charger also requires you remove your AC...if your car is so equiped...since it runs in its place...i cant imagine the super would be overly difficult to retro fit...if anything it would require rebending your down pipe..but it maynot even be that extensive, might just require removing your cat, relocating it to the underside...

the super charger for the focus has the snout shaft run right across the front side of the engine and is spun right wher the AC clutch pully would be...the super charger sits in what is an empty spot in the engine bay...basically below the battery....piping shoud be basically the same...other then where it enters the TB...

with the ac condenser out of the way there is quite a bit more room in there...i am no turbo guru but the intercooler is going to help quite a bit as it regulates the air charge and further cools it with out sacrificing any boost...(minimal boost loss a couple pounds or so depending on boost levels)

as for gathering the parts...i have seen boat loads on Ebay...not sure what you can and cant trust on there when itcomes to this type of product though...

i since i dont have ac that means it may be easier then a turbo right?...i dont plan on keeping my cat since i dont have emition tests were i live so thats another issue gone...im actual excited to here about this cuase i always thought that a s/c would be as difficult to install as a turbo would be

i have also seen a new application of SC that fits directly in the place of the intake manifold..well it incorporates a new one and has the belt run over the alt...which is another option.... but the kit i saw for that was almost 5000.oo.
i started a thread for it not too long ago..if you seach for it..

you can hget a jackson racing supercharger, everything bolts up fine but you are on your own for tuning.

I was looking at the s/c sold by focussport and it says that u can send ur ecu in and get it reflashed....would that fix the deal with the tuning or would i have to go get a sct tuner setup

Thanks for the info.......SO I guess S/C is the best choice to go with.....Where would be the best sites/place to buy the parts? what parts should I buy?....and if I do with the turbo...where would I be able to get it?

most of the stuff for a turbo setup can be found on ebay, only thing you wont find on ebay is the tubing bent the way youll need it, that can be done at on exhuast shop. the turbo manifold can be got from jgs percision. youll need the one for the zx2.

there are kits on ebay for intercooler piping for a 100$ you get 8 pieces of pipe (6 bends and 2 straight i think)16 clamps and 8 silicone couplers...that is a good start i guess... or you can go to a place like HKS and get the super duper expensive connectors and piping..

Might also try
1. Focus central
2. ZXtuner
3. couple shops local to yourself

I know I'm new here but check out www.powerworks.com for the Zetec SC. It's buildt for the focus but would most likely fit as it goes in place of the intake manifold. I actually met some of the Power Works guys and drove a couple of there cars. Nice setups, knowledgable guys and fast cars. They also reflash Focus ECU's and I don't think a cougar one would be that differant.

For the Turbo check with Tom at www.focus-power.com. He is also known as Turbo tom. I also met him and again a nice guy, knowledgable and fast car(he gave me a ride in it) and I saw no signs of turbo lag.

Just a couple options for you here.
