View Full Version : got pulled over, clocked at 127

ok i know it was stupid and i'll never do it again, but I wanted to push the cougar cause i didn't drive it for 2 months, so i was going down I-75 and punched it at 70 miles an hour. within like 10 seconds i was at 130, then i'm like alright got that out of my system, so i slow down and i'm going 70 m.p.h, about 5 minutes later i see a cop pull behind me and turn his lights on. he came up to my car and was like do you know you were going 127? (i was like no **** dumbass)! but anyway he asked why i was going that fast and i told him my pedal got stuck! but anyway he was like we'll do you need me to call a tow truck for you! i was like "no my friend lives just down the road" so he says that 'if you don't take the tow truck im gonna give you the ticket for 127 in a 70 mph zone'. so i told him ya i need a tow truck so he called a tow truck and had it towed to my friend house a mile off the hwy. he told me to fix it before i put it back on the road. $30 for the tow truck was better that a reckless driving ticket, and court costs. so i regret doing it and i felt dumb after but live and learn.

Holy christ on a bike . . . so . . . you just got out of jail and you decide driving double the speed limit is a good idea? Uh . . .

What work do you have done to your car?
"...punched it at 70 miles an hour. within like 10 seconds i was at 130..."
Took me a LOT longer than ten seconds to get from even 100-130 mph when I pushed my cougar once *(I didn't spray).

I've got 3 words for you, listen carefully.
You're. F***ing. Retarded.
I'm glad you didn't kill some innocent person doing something dumb like that. If you had, thats Vehicular Manslaughter if I've ever seen it. Somehow I'm amazed that the cop let you off. If I was the cop, I would have said "Well why didn't you put it in neutral? Then shut the car off and coast to a stop?" You're lucky the cop was that easy. Next time I hope the same cop catches you and throws your ass in jail for endangering the lives of everyone else on the road.
I really hope the flaming here gets thru to you and you don't do something like this again. Or at least make a thread about it to get ridiculed.

Please, 127mph is nothing. You guys act as if he was driving blindfolded or something.
In all honesty he or anyone else has more of a chance of killing someone on the way to work than on an empty outstretched road in the middle of the night....Now had you been doing this while weaving in and out of traffic. Sure thats stupid.
I will say you are one lucky SOB, I cannot believe you pulled that lie off.

I was thinking that too, i dont give a damn who you are. if your any kind of car person, that thrives on cars, theres been one time or another that you have opend up your car.....or a time you thought about it, maybe your will power is stronger than mine. to be honest with you i redlined my car around 150ish one time, granted it was 3:30 in the morning and on a highway that has a 15 mile stretch.....I still did it. I think its a stupid thing to do, but for some reason my retardeness overcomes me and i have to test my limits. im sure some of you are like this too? hopefully!
Sorry if im a totaly moron

The reason why the thread hasn't been locked yet?
http://www.newcougar.org/forums/showthread.php?t=85826
:disgust: NewCougar.org does NOT condone illegal racing- as a result, you CAN and SHOULD expect HARSH replies to stories about street racing.
 Personal attacks will not be tolerated. It is one thing to point out that somebody's actions were stupid, it is another to start namecalling. I have an entire set of MasterLock brand thread-padlocks ready to kill any thread that starts heading south.
While saying that somebody was stupid (when they did an obviously stupid thing) isn't namecalling, telling someone they're a ****tard or a homo for being a stupid is.
That hasn't happened yet, nor has any real flamewar started, and all of the replies have either been normal, or in line with the "HARSH REPLIES CAN AND SHOULD BE EXPECTED" policy on doing something stupid.
In any case, yes, the original poster did do something moronic, was lucky to get away with it.

I'm going to say it again. Why flame!? lol, please tell me that you good law abiding citizens have NEVER broken a law? Seat belt law, littering law, speeding law... come on... he came on here and posted. If you are just going to flame and call him stupid, why waste the time to do so?
*edit* Yes we all love cars, or we wouldn't waste our time on these boards. Speed is fun, exciting. We are human beings. We strive for things that excite us. I feel like an open interstate is a great place to speed. I do it all the time going from my house to my parents. 15 miles of straight interstate where hardly anyone drives. Gotten up to 155-160 in a Stang GT...

Like I said, it's in the warning- harsh replies can be expected. It's been that way since the older NECO forums on FastCougar, and it's that way now. ;)
If I post a story about how I was doing 143mph on the freeway in the dead of night with no cars around going to Arizona, I would expect to get flamed, and I also wouldn't care.

Crap, I've done that during the day IN Arizona. No one around. Did it during the day so I could see cops. All I wanted was to see what the max I could hit was. Flame away, it was still fun.

Anyways.. Been 161 mph in my old 88 cougar 5.0 (modified) With none rated tires, bwahaha, 150 in the old Venge (removed limiter and slightly modded)... but yea. I havn't even sped in a looo0ng time really. Last time was back in September in the Mach 1 @ 130.... Getting old and more cautious I guess.... Humans who have a passion for cars speed, it does happen, some are just more, well, stupid than others about it. I always opened up when there weren't any other cars around. I am sure if someone had to scrape me up i would want to make it easier instead of having them trying to seperate my intestine from some one elses ;) Either way, be careful out there guys.

i'm with the pro-speedsters. if u know the dangers and don't endanger any other people while testing out the limits of a car you pour money into, why should someone else care?
**note i said not endangering anyone else, so don't say "well i could be driving and u could kill me, so i care..."**
i think its a big conspiracy by the boards to keep the number of members up
^by the way, j/k
Do I seem to be the only one to think :bs: ?
Nope, you are not alone. I was about to say the same thing. I don't buy the story one bit....honestly, I don't buy it any more than I buy the whole "I was in jail, that is why you didn't get your part" excuse he had in the Transactions forum.

the old "gas pedal stuck" thing almost never works since your vehicle is obviously not mechanically safe to operate on the highway. youre lucky he let you have it towed and didnt have it towed for you.

Ive never tried ****ing while driving it seems impossible...Ive got head while driving but not ****ed...
Also I hit 130 in the cougar on a trip to my friends college which i will actually be attending next school year. It was getting dark and there was actually a lot of cars on the road, most of them going around 80. I was swerving and **** and then I was like aight I am done. This coming from someone who used to drive his ford escort about 115 daily...
BTW: Ive never received a ticket. I've been driving for a little more than 2 years.

I'm not one to talk, but when you go that fast, if you see another car you might want to slow down. When I go fast, I go alone and on an empty highway at 3 in the mornin. I know I am risking my life, but don't have to worry about killing other people. Lets try to be somewhat smart, ok?
krunknasty
03-16-2006, 12:29 AM
This might put up a big argument but I feel no reason to slow down when I see a car because I know how to turn my steering wheel into another lane to pass him. I only was going this speed for about 20 seconds and then i slowed down to regular speeds. I dont regret it, it was fun. I dont feel that I was endangering anybody else because I know how to drive. I actually dont drive my cougar fast. I baby the **** out of it to save as much gas as possible, but this one time I did want to try it out to see how fast the ***** went.

you guys act like youve never pushed your cars...i have done it i know i shouldnt...its allways late at night with no one around but still...I rarely try but sometimes you get the urge to see what your car can do...btw im glad you didnt have a blowout...thats a horrible thing to say...its like saying the cougar couldnt go in a straight line on the interstate at 127 safely with no one around...i wonder how many of you stone throwers have ever driven drunk...i bet most of you..i havent but i have driven 127 does that make me a bad person
We cant all be saints
Glad to hear the cop was cool and that no one was harmed

Yeah cudos to the cop, and honestly I think everyone here has gone 'too fast' at least once in their lifetime, I have in my Cougar but like everyone else it was dark, and at night, with no cars. The stupidest thing I've done was probably drive my old LeMans 110mph (guessing the 10 the spedometer clocked out at 100) but this car had rust holes through the floorpans, and the tires and alignment...well lets just not go there.
On a side note: People always rip it up at night...well how far can you see with your brights? your perty much driving blind when you go way over the speed limit. I do it anyways even with that in the back of my mind.
