and by the way i have used the search button but couldnt come up with anything that i'm lookin for and me and a friend of mine are doin the swap our self and we're pullin the motor out tomorrow so i could use any info a.s.a.p. i appreciate any help.

look what i found in about all of 5 seconds.......
Advantages/Disadvantages - Thanks to Brad Noon for these.
Advantages for the 2001+ 3.0L are:
-The injector position is better in the 2001 intake/head design.
-The plastic intake conducts less heat to the incoming air charge.
-The water pump placement is similar to the factory 2.5 water pump placement, meaning fewer modifications to the hoses.
-The high velocity oval port design used along with revised intake cams provide better midrange power without the drop off produced by the older design at the RPM when the secondaries opened.
-SVT cams swap right in.
The Disadvantages for the 2001+ 3.0L are:
-The plastic intake can't take very much porting without fear of cracking.
-The heads don't accept the 2.5L intakes without an adapter plate or port matching
-They're more expensive to buy initially than the older 3.0L would be.
Advantages for the '98-'99 3.0L engines are:
-Cheaper price (most expensive one I've gotten was $500 delivered for this year of 3.0L full engine assembly, including harness) allows you to purchase better than stock parts to replace worn parts for about the same price as the 2001 would cost initially.
-The 2.5L intakes fit the 3L heads without modifications.
-Using the 3.0L heads would require an electric water pump. Could be good or bad depending on how you look at it. For this case, it's good that you got a cheaper price on the engine itself, so that you can pay the $300 for the water pump and controller (never pay list price, LOL!). Plus you can have fun with the extra 5-7 HP that it saves in parasitic losses over the factory pump.
Disadvantages for the '98-'99 3.0L are:
-Higher mileage blocks may require more machine work to return to the road.
-Use of aftermarket water pump may be required, which involves a custom installation
take your pic because THEY ARE THE SAME ENGINE!!!!!!
sorry for being an ass but that whole "i searched but didn't find anything i wanted" bullcrap doesnt work. I know because i used to do it
seriously that took me 5 seconds to find, did you even try?

Go with a 2001 + engine from either a Sable, Tuarus, OR ESCAPE.
The escapes have the UPDATED OIL PAN. They all have the UPDATED WINDAGE TRAY. The escapes may have different UIM (I'm not sure about this) that will not clear the hood if doing a straight 3.0 swap. ALL OTHER MAJOR ENGINE PARTS ARE THE SAME.
You can do a straight drop. Full 3.0 including heads, LIM, UIM. The fuel rail, egr, may need to be modified, depending on your set up.
You can also port match the 3.0 heads to accept the 2.5 (ie cougar / SVT ) LIM, UIM. PAY SOMEONE TO DO THIS.
You can add SVT cams to either version, but must use LARGE PITCH TIMING COMPONENTS (ie tensioners, cranshaft gears, etc).
YOU WILL NEED TO MAKE SLIGHT MODIFICATIONS TO THE BLOCK ON EITHER SWAP TYPE.
THere really isnt any difference in the amount of work needed between a sable/tuarus engine or Escape engine. Buying the escape engine will save you from buying an updated oil pan and maybe a few other minor things. Escape engines cost MORE than tuarus engines, so you really arent saving anything. You show me a cheap escape engine and Ill show you a cheaper taurus engine.
I personally think that FAQ sucks monkey balls and is really outdated. It seems to confuse everyone into talking about some hybrid **** and wondering why there are all these newbies asking hybrid this hyrbid that.

Unless you get a late 03+ Escape engine (basically an 04) you will not get the updated oil pan. The first revision (01-03) changed next to nothing of value.
Also there is the suspicion of Zircon contaminants on all 03-04 Escape engines. (i.e. bearing failure)
You can search for all the juicy details because I'm not typing it all out. Again.

Just buy my complete 3L powertrain assembly listed in For Sale. Cheaper, better, and already built.
