so as stated in this thread here (http://newcougar.org/forums/showthread.php?t=89267) anything posted in that forum that could result in incarceration means the thread will be locked, wouldn't that be 95% of those damn threads?

I have seen like hundreds of storys like that in road tales and never seen one get locked for no reason. Look at the thread in capital neco or whatever that has over 3000 post. I think its pretty cool but just making a point that there are off topic threads and post in every single topic

i think the boards are really getting out of hand with all of the locking.

not really all the locking, just locking of some threads that break the rules, but not locking of other threads that break the rules. just doesn't make much sense to me

That lock was deserved IMO. Running from the police is a pretty high crime IIRC and it was blatant he knew what he was doing. As well as it would've been a flamefest shortly afterwards.

I only lock threads that break the rules if I see them or they're brought to my attention. I saw that thread last night, and it's blatantly against the rules, so I locked it. It's since been suggested to me privately that it should be unlocked so people can point out the error of the original poster's ways.

As for selectively locking/deleting threads, as I stated above, I only do it to threads that I see or are brought to my attention. If there are a large quantity of threads in Road Tales that are breaking rules, the mod(s) should be taking care of them, or members should petition the Admins to relax the rules for Road Tales.

Also, if you have a question for me, feel free to ask it via PM. There's no need to "call me out" in threads like this.

but everybody who street races knows what they are doin. and if you get caught, you will get thrown in jail. people who have talked about toppin their car out know what they are doin, and goin that fast will sometimes get you thrown in the back of the police car. it woulda been a flamefest, but I'd rather see 20 people call that guy an idiot rather than a mod lock the thread bc it broke the rules, even though 20 other threads right below it broke the rules too.

Let me repeat myself, but use slightly different wording in hopes that you'll understand:

I didn't read the other threads, nor were they brought to my attention. I saw that thread. It's against the rules, as I clearly pointed out by posting the wording, including a link back to the rules page, so I was within my rights to lock it. Or delete it.

I've now decided to go in and delete the entire thread, just to spite everyone.

I'll refer you to the rules (http://newcougar.org/forums/announcement.php?f=50), specifically the following:
Moderators have a free reign here. If they don't like it, it's toast

It's not abuse if it's allowed.
