Im new to the Cougar, not new to the Contour. As you can tell, I have had my membership for quite some time, just kept my posting over on the CEG.

Ive had my `96 Contour since May of `00. It was a plain jane GL model, teal on tan. 15" deli slicer wheels, Zetec, ATX, etc. Through the years I have almost taken the car completely apart and reassembled it. As it sits now, ready to be sold :( , the Zetec is still in there, but with many more miles. The ATX came out upon its death and a MTX was swapped in with all of the related hardware and a Spec stage III clutch. I poly'd all of the motor mounts, gave it a SVT exhaust with resonator and Magnaflows. It was lowered with the BAT kit and boxed control arms on both ends. The tan interior came out and was replaced with OE gray. The dash, upper pillars and headliner all are black, as are the tops and bottoms of the door trim and its windows are 30%. Outside it has SVT sides and an SVT rear and gunmetal painted E0s. I built the front bumper cover from the stock piece and the bottom half of a Grand Prix GTP. It has DOT 90mm Hella projector lowbeams and 90mm Hella highbeams. Signals front and rear, front park lamps and the third brake lamp are all LEDs, the actual ones, not drop in pieces.

The Contour's replacement is a `01 Cougar Duratec/MTX with 63K. I picked it up totalled with minor front end damage. The car is Zinc Yellow on black leather and factory 17s.. Its previous owner had some fun with it installing Ground Controls on stock struts. :ugh: Right now the suspension is cranked almost as low as possible and camber is extreme since he didnt install a camber kit (which I wouldnt now after seeing how the Contour tore its apart). I have already removed what was left of its body kit with the exception of the spoiler. The only other mods I have found are tint, a Panasonic HU and wires to what I am assuming was an illuminated rear emblem. He also debadged the car leaving only the emblem on the grille. It still needs a hood, headlamps, both bumper covers and maybe some sideskirts. I have already found a front crash bar and front fenders. Ill be getting my headlamps through Bill Jenkins shortly. I plan on playing with the Cougar's suspension about the same as what is under the Contour. The car will come back up, but not to stock, and will probably be running on actual coils again. I have a set of tubular rear toe arms, and the control arms will also be boxed on this car. I will get the motor mounts poly'd while the car is waiting. I have a `03 Escape 3L at work waiting for me to bring it home and take it apart for some minor work.

Anyway, figure that should be enough of an introduction, so how about pics of the two cars?

The Contour last April, before its tint/lowering. Also my favorite pic of this car.

The Cougar as it looked when I took it to its current home. Cameraphone pic.

Not to be missed completely out on are the other two. My current daily driver is a `98 Volvo V70R. For those unfamiliar with Volvo's naming, its a wagon. Turbocharged 5-cyl, automatic, AWD. The car is black with dark gray interior. 100hp/L in stock form, not bad if it didnt weigh 3700+.

I also have a `98 Contour Zetec/ATX. T-red on tan. This car is waiting on its title so I can put it up for sale. It is completely stock, even down to the 14" hubcaps.

Wow, good luck getting the Zn back up and running! Looks like it took quite a hit, but I'm sure with work it can be back as good as new. For the most part the front end "looks" fairly straight, so hopefully its not too bad!

Oh, welcome to NECO by the way!

See, thats what we need, people bringing back to life wrecked Cougars instead of crushing them!

Good Job, Welcome to the board!

where did u find that cougar at. there was some one on here with a zn coug with a bodykit that he just let the junkyard keep and his insurance paid it off. any other parts missing off it. he might have parted out the aftermarket parts and put his stock parts back on it

The car was registered in Idaho but the guy lived about thirty minutes north of SLC. The car was totalled on 10/21, then it sat, with the windows down. :( IAA, an auction company, got the car late last month, it went to auction, my boss bought it and a day later I bought it.

Its only missing small pieces. Maybe some push in trim clips in the car, it was missing the package tray, its missing a clamp for its air cleaner setup and the center caps. Other then that and the damage, everything was pretty much intact.
