I thought I posted this yesterday but I can't find my post. :banghead:

Anyway, I went to my car to start it. When I turned the key, obviously it didn't start. There was no clicking, no grinding, no flickering lights. Just nothing. The battery has plenty of power, the fuses were all good. When I turn the key, the dash lights stay on except for the ones that normally turn off while starting. I played with the key in the ignition for a while suspecting a bad connection. I also played with locking and unlocking the car with the remote in case it was an engine kill security thing. Nothing. I just about gave up when I tried one last time. I turned and held the key for a second and then the car started like nothing ever was wrong! This happened a couple times before to me. On those occasions the car worked perfectly afterwards and the problem did not return for a very long time. Same thing with this time. Since it fixed itself it has started everytime for the last 2 days. Anyone know what the heck is going on?

Make sure its in park all the way..IIRC there is a lockout that will prevent it from starting if its not.

Or if the switch that detects the park setting goes bad you cant do much... similar to the MTX safety switch on the clutch.

Ahhh, that could be it. I never did try messing with the shifter but now that I think about it I likely bumped it in my frustration to start the car. I will check that out next time it happens. It is still starting perfectly fine now so I will keep my fingers crossed I don't have to get this fixed. Thanks guys!

It maybe a fuel problem. I have a 2000 Cougar 5spd. and my car did the same thing. and it was my fuel pump and filter.
