i've recently run into two issues with my car

I'm not sure if it is the change in the wheater, because I didn't have tis problem in the summer, but my can makes a whinning/moanning noise. I can't figure out what it triggering it. but i can say that it comes for the air box, where the air filter is. If i unhook the latches and pull the top off the noise will stop. My father-in-law said the car might be drawing air in to hard. I told my wife that it looks like the only way to fix this problem is to get a new cold air intake. she laughed. anyone know what's going on?

the second problem is a mystery hose that I ran across while changing my battery. i have no idea where it's supposed to go, i mean where it's orgin is or where it is supposed to lead to. it has a mount between the battery and the air box on the bar that holds the metal piece that gose over the battery. I looks like the hose came from the enginge but may have been cut by something. it's only about a foot long or so. any ideas what it does or how important it is?

the moan is know as moosing search for that or throttle hang fix

the mystery hose is a vent for the trans. if it gets too hot it overflows through that

thanks for the responce. I tried searching but didnt really know what to search for. i got the answers for that now.

About the hose. mine seems to be cut, maybe by the pully/belt thats on the battery side of the car. it's about a foot long in length. how important is it to have connected? where does it start and and end at? does it connect to something on both ends or does it just stop by the battery and not connect to anything?

One end of the hose connects to the transaxle. The other end (the end you found next to you battery) doesn't connect to anything. It just hangs in mid air. And like Jaged said, it's just there to puke out tranny fluid when the trans gets too hot and needs to relieve excessive pressure.

If it's not present and/or gets blocked, then you are in for a world of tranny flavored pain.
