3L Hybrid ( with 2.5 heads and svt cams. )
or
3L with SVT Cams.

would the 2nd option be a 3L with oval ported heads and SVT UIM/LIM?

i believe the 3L heads PnP'ed to the split port manifolds are the best powermakers, but usually cost more than the other routes. and usually the manifolds are SVT also with the addition of SVT cams and other bolts on such as intake/headers/exhaust.

Straight 3L with 3L heads to avoid oil issues.

3L + SVT Cams + I/H/E + Tune

Thats really the best way to go on a budget.. The svt stuff doesnt make a huge difference

it made a pretty big dif. to my stock 2.5. could only be better on a 3l

for 400+ dollars it doesnt.

have you driven a cougar with an SVT contour throttle body?

there is a noticable difference between it and the stock one.

indeed I have, that might be worth it.

When i put my SVT parts on my 2.5L it was night to day with the throttle. Also the pull in the uppers was much better. I think it was WELL worth it.

I just put my SVT parts on today, and granted, even though theres a massive fuel leak right now (shes still in the shop), she sounds better than she did with just the short ram. I cant wait to take her out on the road. The SVT stuff makes a noticealbe audible difference so I'm positive the performance difference will be very noticeable too.

I don't mean to sound like a douche...but when you're building a 3L, the money shouldn't be a problem...because money shouldn't be an issue when you build one...

but if you were to build a hybrid, you're gonna have a high C/R which is best for N/A...but the 3L heads with split-port match will react better to F/I...it just depends which way you want to go in the long run

money doesn't flow for everyone.. thanks!

You can get things done right on a budget, but you have to pick and choose what you find worth it and what you don't.

you're preaching to the choir...because I have my 3L sitting on an engine stand...and it has been for a couple weeks now, that's because my "budget" exceeded what I thought it would be, but it can still be done for a grand or two...and done pretty well too (svt uim/lim/injectors etc. can be bought)...but if you're going to do it, you're BEST results will be with the BEST parts you can buy...which would be the BEST way...why cheap it out? all the mods see the most gains with dyno tuning/online chip...those gains are alot more than you think...unless your budget is 500 bucks...it makes since to get them.

3L heads are more reliable too. Replacing those 2.5L heads alleviates many of the oil problems suffered by the Duratec engines.

well my window is 3500-4000, thats still lots of money but I have it alotted for stuff like and LSD, clutch, etc. But of course, I've largely not started yet so much learning (and earning) is to be done.

I know fordrule did his 3L swap AND an HMS tranny for 5k. Talk to him.

there is a noticable difference between it and the stock one.

For manual transmission cars, the SVT throttle body makes a noticeable difference because of the rate at which it opens the throttle body. The linkage on the stock 2.5L one only cracks it open for the first half the pedal, and slams it open for the rest. The SVT is much more linear, and thus you "feel" the difference in driving.

Massiv.

plush is right. i was collecting parts and then did the built. more out of need then being ready for it. sice my tranny died in July and then my engine finally gave in sep. its fun man. the hardest part was getting ahold of the svt parts

What all of you aren't getting is the 3L will flow better than a stock 2.5L. It already has the same size TB as the SVT. The 3L intakes definately flow better than the stock 2.5L's. I've driven both (Full 3L oval port with SVT cams vs. ported oval port with SVT parts) back to back and honestly there wasn't much of a difference. Save the $1000 (Porting, SVT Upper, Lower, and TB) and put it into headers, LSD, or toward a turbo kit.

I'll put a 3L hybrid with SHMs (Icefury's new ride) up against your straight 3L even with MSDSs any day... :cover:

I'm selling my Jag finally and I'll end up keeping the next 3L SVT I build for a winter car so I'll try and get a dyno for people to see the difference between the two. It will be a full oval port, WR headers, SVT Cams, with 3L intakes, and a custom SCT tune.

i deff want to see the difference between NA with full 3L heads and block w/
svt cams/UIM/LIM/tb & 24 inj VS full 3L heads and block w/ svt cams 3L UIM/LIM/TB & 24 inj

But for OX u would have to throw in the Hybrid throw down. the n the battle between hybrid vs 3L
