hey i didnt know if this would make it a little better for the forsale threads or not. They just started it on one of the z forums, and thought it was a good idea

In order to post you need to meet at least one of the following requirements:
Member of the site for at least 45 days
Post Count of 300 or more
Be a Gold Member.

should help out against people getting ripped off

what do u think

it sounds nice in theory..but what about those that don't plan on being on here all that much..For example..we had a seller log in who's main reason for being on here was to liquidate his parts inventory. If thats why he's here, why wait the 45 days before he can do it? Anyone cn rip anyone off regardless on how long they have to wait..If thats the persons agenda, they're going to do it..ufortunately you never know until it happens. Prime example, that ebay scam.

i see what ur saying but i think this would help cut down the issue. Not saying everything will be perfect and nothing like this will every happen, but i know it will and i know the only thing u can really do is start off with an idea and then grow onto that idea.

also if there was a company that was wanting to sell something, they could become a gold member, if they dont want to wait for the 45 day min.

Again very nice in theory but it wont happen. Say you wanted to just sell parts on some forum and for you to do that, you had to pay. My 2 cents.

Maybe a lower limit might be more appropriate like say 10 or 20 posts. I'm on a few other forums that do that.

Here is what they say:

Classified Policies

#1 - The posting of ads in this forum is open to members registered for a minimum of 10 days with a post count of at least 10.
PLEASE NOTE: Buy and Sell / LNLC posts are not counted, spamming to achieve this number will result in your post count being reset to zero.

Focaljet is EXTREMELY strict on their for sale posts. There is a certain format they have to be listed to, and if they aren't....goodbye.

if someone is shady then it will usually show.

I have joined other forums to sell items for those specific cars, there are people here who join our forums just to purchase/sell products from the FS threads. Making it difficult for the average joe will never stop a determined criminal.

If your not smart enough to send payment which is secure you then you take that risk. There are services such as escrow and paypal which will ensure legit transactions.

It is not up to the forum to baby sit and we certianly shouldnt require a forum donation just so people can sell on here. Being a Gold Memeber is volentary, by no means should we force it upon anyone especially n00bs.

caterina is the perfect exception, been a member for a long time, lots of posts but we all remember that wheel/tire situation dont we? Has it ever been fixed? So it doesnt matter if your a new guy or old guy, if your gonna get ripped off you will, but i can see why you want these limitations in place.

I've seen a lot of guys from CEG who are super-active members there, but never post over here unless they have for-sale items. THat would totally shut them out.

another forum I go to has a 60 post minimum to post something for sale OR to request any photoshop/signature help.

Honestly... a lot of the security falls upon the buyer. Verifiable and secure payments, checking and verifying before sending payment, and using trackable and insured shipment methods.

There is some great stuff in here being psted though, look for a change/addition to our rules and policies soon. I'll be watching this thread!

why would ceg members be shut down.. Its say ONE OF THE FOLLOWING MUST APPLY. so if they have like 20 posts but have been a member over 40 days they can post in there and sell

how long have u been on there kenny?

if over 45 days, then you would be able to post. Does anyone understand the first post were its states ONE of the FOLLOWING would have to apply.

whether you have been a member over 45 days,
whether you have over a certain post count,
OR whether you have a gold membership

one of those have to apply not all of them,
