View Full Version : I'm gonna do it...

So i've decided since i'm gonna have the coug for a while, and probably another after it, to remote turbo. Now here's the trick... I don't have the cash to re-build the motor, and no cash for a kit. I'm gonna part together something off ebay, i just helped my buddy do that for his s-10.
I'm asking the vets about this, so I get the facts right...
The stock intake/heads/block/etc. can take around 6psi, right? So I'm gonna relocate the battery and move some hoses to make room for the intake pipe, then slide that into the stock MAF and intake. I've already hacked off the rear silencer (and it sounds pretty damn good, may I add. That long tube and space before the rear suspension is where the turbo will go, with oil lines, tank and pump in trunk and alongside. Then after the turbo to a y-pipe and out in front of the rear tires. I'm pretty sure that with some fabbing and elbow grease i could get it to work running 3-5 psi with minimal engine build (know a good ECU upgrade?).
Here's the snag...
How much power can the stock trans, mounts and frame take? After all the little stuff is assembled I hope to have it in this spring.
Thanks for advice, Andy

The stock trans is supposed to be good for 300hp but the differential is a different story:rofl: as far as the stock mounts, just fill them or but the inserts from BAT. As far as an ECU upgrade, do it right the first time and just take it to a local Dyno shop and have it tuned on the dyno don't bother f'ing with a chip. Unless you are good with tuning then just get one of those X-Calibrators from Superchips(there is a group buy on CEG for them I think).

Hmm... how about do the little things first and then boost it? Seems to be the safest and least cost effective route

Bah.... it all about balls out man:biggrin:
 I think the term "Ballz Deep" refers to getting them in there...but either way it is a moot point...i suppose you could be refering to putting your ballz on the line...hehe:rofl:
sounds like a fun winter project...
TOO bad there isnt a way to split your intake manifold and build a twin turbo setup....now that would be baaaaaaaaad aZZZZZZZZZZZ...
EDIT: DOH!

No I mean balls out(it's actually an engineering term, basically full throttle) and not MUTE point it is MOOT point:rofl:
There isn't a way to split the manifold? Yeah there is just have to do it, you can do anything you want if you have the balls and money.

EDIT: DOH!
You don't need to split the intake to do a twin setup. Just split the exhaust into a true dual setup and then go with twins. ;)

a twin remote turbo would be insanity of piping.

When youy talk about crazy turbo piping, I remembered this car from years back... a Triple Turbo Supra... Made like 450hp or so...with 3 T25 turbos...

how many weeks of welding did that take? lol
so what's the front diff able to handle?

i like how 3 turbos make half as much power as one GT42R
waste of time and money
looks cool though.

IIRC it was 600 hp, not 450.

The basic kit used to be rated at 450hp with no other modifications except the kit itself...however it had a linear graps with very very very quick spool and power throughout.
Other mods and whatnot could push the kit to about 600hp or so...but HKS and other single turbo swaps for half the cost of the triple kit, made a min of 600hp.
Sorry this hijacked this thread...just popped into my head. I don't think the kit is available anymore.
