What do you guys think? I pick up a 2001 3L, and use the current 2.5 heads on my car now to bump compression and to obtain the ability to use SVT LIM/UIM/TB. I have a return style cougar now, so what do I need to do to deal with this issue?

instead of getting a new short block, I should just get a used (new depending on price) longblock and port the heads to accept svt manifolds

if you don't feel comfortable doing the porting yourself, i know blackcoog offers this service for a very reasonable price. shoot him a pm for more info:)

thats what he told me, seems like I might be learning to lean towards full 3L with SVT cams

You should. This is also old news, and this coming from a guy who built two hybrids... A port-matched full 3L with SVT cams is your N/A choice hands-down. I think it would also respond nicely to a bit of nitrous, if the mood takes you. Hybrids have very high C/R, so F/I is not such a terrific idea. The difference is in the head design. Oval ports are superior to split port. Have the heads P&Ped while port matching, more power to you.
