new here...some questions about turbos

hey everyone...i have a 99 atx with a millenium kit about to come out the shop in a couple weeks...i dont have the money now...and im damn sure tht u guys have talked about turbos before....but are there any out there that fit our cars? and if so how much would they cost...i have a long way to go with hookin up the engine...but i figure...start big so u know what little things to do afterwards...right? hit me back

if you have a v6, adc offers a kit for $5000+, then you have to buy alot of odds and ends that arent included in the kit. i think i heard the stock bottom end can hold like 6 psi, but im not sure of that. also you have an atx, which is gonna cripple you more cause it seems that the cd4e doesnt like much power, but with a trans cooler and some good fluid, itll last longer. after you get your motor/trans strengthened and get the adc kit, all you have to worry about SCT tuning. im not a turbo genious, but im sure one of the more turbo educated people with stumble across this sooner or later.

ok thanks...i guess....i have no idea what you said to me other than how much it costs bc i have no clue about anything relating to turbos....i was thinkin about changin my trans to manual..as i posted a thread in transmission performance....i dunno...i guess y waste the time and aggravation on something that im gonna hafta constantly keep tuning and will never be right...u know?

You need to buy a book on turbos and do more research if your going to turbo your car. And I suggest you read this section a little bit before you go through anything you want to do.

By "a lot", it's about an extra $250 for all the gear, including battery box, tie downs, extra wiring, etc. I don't know if $250 can be classified as "a lot" when you've just plunked down five large for the kit.

Oh, BTW- He's got an ATX, so the ADC kit no workie! You have to do custom, and your trans will most likely grenade itself under even moderate boost.
