Yeah, thats right, I just tore my achillies tendon on my right foot. Basically its pulled up behind my calf on my right leg. They say you hear a pop when you tear a knee ligament, o man you hear them when you tear any tendon trust me...  :puke: :puke: Yeah I almost did that when I reached down and felt that there was no tendon on the heel of my right foot, but there was one on my left foot. Ok I m gonna have to go puke now, BUT my new years party is still on folks! Dont even think being on pain killers is going to stop my ass from partying!!
Hope to see some of you there.
PS please pray for my grandpa too, I just found out after I got back from the hospital that he's doing really bad and the cancer is back and not going away.
Thanks guys and gals!

How do they fix that anyway? Sucks about your grandpa dude

What the hell were you doing? Good thing you already got your ski trip in. Since you didn't tell us how you did it we are free to speculate.
I bet you were trying some new sex position with your secret boyfriend:rofl:

Let me guess, that would be Jeff, not Becky!! (ass).
Anyways, I was playing basketball, we always have the alumni vs the Varsity teams during break, and I had already played on Wed. and went back in on Thursday to play again... All I did was pivot off my right foot and it felt like someone stepped on the back of my foot so I fell to the ground looked back and could see that there was no tendon left, since you can see my achilles tendons because of my fricking chicken legs. I reached down felt my left tendon which was still there reached over to my right and well, just skin and cartilige and the back of my foot wobbles from side to side too, which is just sick, but I had to share all that to you.
Mike; It didnt totally "ball" up but it did retract behind my calf muscle, SO I'm guessing that means they are going to have to cut my calf muscle to get it out.
I dont know exacttly what they do to fix this problem, but I do know a lady had it done at the hospital and has had 2 kids and said the surgery and recovery is more painful than childbirth. So all you moms out there, Im about to find out what you go through and then some
My dad did put it into perspective though, atleast this didn't happen when I was still playing sports in high school, especially my senior year, because it must've been weak and just waiting to pop.
Hope everyone had a great Christmas, I know mine WAS great, and have a great New Years!
Jeff, My ski trip was great, minus the fact that Utah SUCKS butt. I mean they have 3.2 beer that is reallllllly expensive(e.g. 26 for a case of Bud Light low alcohol content). Perfect pour, meaning every shot, mixed drink is regulated by a computer so you only get 1 oz. of liquor with the drink, and worst yet, the summit of the Mtns. in Park City and the Canyon's is a miserable 9,800 feet. In Colorado the lifts take you well past 12,000 feet and the snow is wayyyyyy better in Colorado. Anywhere I've been in CO actually is better than Utah, I won't go back where we were thats for sure.
BUT we did hike to the peak and enter a gate labeled, "You are now leaving the resort. YOU MAY DIE!! This is your decision. With a skull and crossbones on it. It was a gate you had to enter to go back country skiing and hike more, and you're damn right we did!!

Tearing my achillies tendon is one of the biggest fears that I have. It just sounds redicuously painful. And to know something that was attachted to my foot is now somewhere in the middle of my calf is just sick. I hope your recovery goes well.

Duuuuuuuuude- I heard and wow...that is really bad. I worked on a guy once who totally ruptured his (he was prolly 300lb+ too) and he said basically took 2 or 3 doctors with a clamp on the tendon to stretch it back over the heel and STAPLE it back in place...then comes the endless rehab and such. I feel ya cuz I almost puked just seeing and feeling this guys ankle. It was prolly 8" in diameter of swolen, messed up muscle/tendon/etc. Granted his other ankle was prolly 6" in diameter anyways but this thing was sick. I really hope yours isnt as bad as that one cuz it sounded and looked...well, the most messed up thing ive ever worked on. Prayin for ya and your grandfather. Call me dude.

Erm...wait a minute...you worked on the guy?
What, were you like a nurse or something at some point in time?
Nurse? LOL- naw. Actually Im a licensed Massotherapist...not that I really do that anymore. Technically Im still a Massage Therapist though and no- Im not a Masseuse. So yeah, I had to work on some fat nasty leg that pretty much made me wanna puke. It was at a volunteer event too so...no pay
John- Lemme know what kinda rehab they set you up for. Kinda curious to know.

Thanks Slade. That story just made me want to get a gun and go bang bang... But I pretty much figured it wasn't going to be pretty. Im definitely going under for the surgery and hopefully they can just leave me under for like a month or so... My consultation is friday so Ill know more then. By the way Slade and Diane, I just ordered Basco a wireless fence system for 218 shipped off the net and it looks really awesome for people like me with our smaller front yard because its adjustable and we dont really want him in the back. www.pet-safe.com

You'd think dating a massotherapist would be sweet, but I NEVER get massages  Paco gets rubbed on more than me.
Thanks for the tip John. That little bastard took off again this weekend and was gone for like 20 minutes. Every time I need to go somewhere he runs away. Slade is really against using anything that shocks or is reinforcement. You know, things that involve actually training him.

My parents are too, but then we got a bark collar, and well lets just say they swear by the stuff now lol. I mean it doesnt hurt that bad, trust me, Ive uh, been intoxicated and tried it out and it wasnt that bad. Especially having fur and stuff. If I were you put it into perspective like this, Paco runs off and gets hit by a car like my first dog, then has 3 legs and dies early from stress to the heart(he had a stroke from overworking it) or you could shock him a bit now and have him be safe for a lonnnng time.
Wired fences are only 98 bux at WalMart too just in case you wanna save some cash, and install in a few hrs. Not hard at all.

I like training best, it benefits the dog ALL teh time not just when he is in the front yard;)
My dog, Jacob, got loose last year and was hit by an F-105. Luckily he wasnt hurt too bad other than he had a bloody nose, cracked rib and a dislocated hip and shoulder and a few scraps and brusies. We dont have the electric fence but Jacob was lucky, extremely lucky.
My friend has an electric fence for her lab mix, PJ (she kind of looks like Paco). They like it espically since they live near a busy road.

Yeah I've shocked myself - SOBER. It hurts. I'd love to get a fence but it's not necessary being at my parents' house.
An electronic fence might be ok...I really dont want him out in the street. He has too much energy to be cooped up inside all the time and none of us can keep up with him to let him run. I try to jog or walk him sometimes but not nearly enough- he needs regular daily exercise. Hey Jeff- we need to get Pox and Tux together more in the summer- nobody wants the muddy mess they would make right now though. Maybe Bax can come too? OOOOOh yeah, then I could rub on Johnny's ankle a bit  Paco and Tucker are absolutely hillarious when they are together. Its like a doggy version of a bruce lee or ninja movie.

I have a fence around the back yard, and my dogs only go in & out the back door, so it's not an issue for me. I live on a pretty quiet street, regardless.

With the exception of chewing (PDA, glasses, carpeting, comforter) our dog is awesome! He goes out front with us off the leash and doesn't go anywhere, we can let him outside without the gate closed and he doesn't go anywhere... he just loves being by his daddy 1st, then me.
Madcat -sorry about jeff's rudeness in earlier posts he is an ass

Awww, Paco is the same way. I'm sure Basco is the same. Now that you mention it, Paco chewed up my super comfy $80 comforter last week. I came home with a hole in it and a new comforter in a bag with a note that said 'please don't be mad cuz daddy talked to me and i'll never do it again.' How am I supposed to be mad at that?

Wow man...I can't even imagine tearing that tendon
I blew out my ACL skiing in Vermont a few years ago...February 29th of 2000 to be exact...lol. The actual tearing and couple weeks afterwards wasn't actually too bad...they told me it needed to be strong before the surgery, so I was mountain biking and exercising a lot...I could just hear it all crunching around in there, but it didn't hurt too bad. The surgery, on the other hand, was excruciating (well, after the surgery...they use hammers, drills and chisels to repair it so I was waaay under for that), and the 6 months of physical therapy...damn. The first thing they had to do was get the range of motion back, so they reef on your knee until it bends. It sucked.
I followed every order they gave me, and did the therapy to a T, and healed perfectly. 6 months after the surgery I was able to do a 24 hour mountain bike race (with their permission, even), and I was skiing again in the February of the next year.
Good luck to you!

Basco has chewed up my cell, linoleum floor in my room at home, carpet both at school and then in our house in the living room... Needless to say he's done about 1k-2k worth of damage I'd say. I pretty much would say its just out of boredom as a puppy but now hes fine. He gets hyper everynight at about 7ish and thats about it. But with me around he's pretty much fine. He definitely listens to me and obeys me much better than anyone else.
Becky, no worries, Jeff didnt hurt my feelings too bad ;) lol. J/K. Its all good.

I remember tearing my hamstring during snowbaording. It hurt like no other. The part that sucked is that I did high hurdles for track and apparently scar tissue formed around my nerves. So when I brought my leg up my foot fell asleep! It went away after a while and some good streching, but it wasnt cool!
Take er easy, remember to strech, eat protien, vitamins.

Surgery is Tuesday at 2:30. Im pretty excited actually, even though its going to hurt like no other, I really want to get this done so I can start the healing process. I guess I ll have to wait and see what happens. But everyone say a little prayer on Tuesday for me please cuz I have to stay overnight and I have a huge phobia of hospitals. As in I get sick to my stomach and cant open my eyes.
