I posted this a while ago:
To remove the mouldings, I soaked mine with industrial strength lubricant (WD40 will also work) and then peeled it off The adhesive left will have to be rubbed off with a rag (soak with lubricant also to make things easier).
Using the search (http://www.fastcougar.com/forums/messageview.cfm?catid=14&threadid=17559&highlight_key=y&keyword1=side%20molding) would've also helped.
Goodluck!

There are at least 2 other threads that discuss it, because I remember posting how I did it.

Big Problem... I removed mine and on my passenger side I got all the glue off but I'm left with like a paint over marking or something. Looks like a lighter blue with my color. I have a rare purple with a little bit of blue in it. Can't get pics. NEED Serious IDEA on how to get it off before Sunday. I have no money for body shop.

Clay bar or rubbing compound, then buff and wax the hell out of it....
