does any one know if the A'PEX S-AFCII A/F cotroller can retard your spark. Im doing some reasearch on putting nitrous into me car. If it does not which is my guess does anyone know anything that can retard the timeing on our cars with other then the SCT: Xcalibrator 2.

No it will not retard spark...just fuel.

Get in on the SCT Xcal2...there is a Group Buy going on right now over on CEG for them.

will the xcal2 adjust the fuel

edit Never mind

I have the Apex unit for my cougar. It only adjusts Fuel. The xcal2 if I remember correctly is used by cougars that have Forced Induction in their systems. If you get Zex you really do not have to worry about adjusting timing.

are you sure about that? i dont know much about nitrous, but i think ive read you have to adjust timing when you spray. i may be wrong though.

well I read in George's Nitrous FAQ that you should retard the timing if your going with a 75 shot. I just want the ability to do that if i decide to up the shot. for safty reasons I think you are supposed to for any but most have had no problems with the 55 shot.

Generally you want to use copper spark plugs as opposed to the stock platinum ones. You also want to reduce the gap from the stock 0.050" down to 0.035"-0.040". I've received a couple notes on why you use a smaller gap. "The reason you want a smaller gap is because of ionization. If you change from the typical air (78%nitrogen, 21% oxygen)/fuel ratio, a given gap requires more energy to ionize the mixture, resulting in less energy in the spark, if you even get a spark. You could also increase the coil voltage instead of decreasing the gap, but I think using a smaller gap would be preferential since the spark time will be smaller." and also this message: "The reason that you will close the gap on your spark plugs is because when nitrous is added, it raises the cylinder pressure, much like a supercharger. Therefore "blowing" the spark out. When you close the gap it cannot put out the spark as easily."

Jacobs ignition or MSD ignition will retard spark on our cars.

So I either need to buy the ADC Excal2 chip or a MSD ignition and A'PEX S-AFCII A/F but the Apex'i unit does not data log(i think).

Along with the bottle heater, blow down kit external an internal, TPS, arming switch, and pressure guage.

Skip any patch work aftermarket ignition add on. They only work after the fact. Well except the boost sensing unit which is not relevant to nitrous.

Get an X-cal2 and you will be infinitely better off.
