My wife and I were coming back from her work when we get stuck at
a light in the lane next to me is a brand new G6. Our light turns green
and I take off briskly so does the G6 I speed up a little but can't seem
to pull ahead. By this time we were both going pretty fast I finally put
it to the floor it downshifts and I hear him nail it but I quickly walk about
two car lengths on him and shut it down. Good race figured I'd post it.

Pfft... Mike has an Altima 3.5. It would walk anything Pontiac makes, short of a V8 Bonneville or a Grand Prix GTP.
Any G6 is CHILD'S PLAY for the 3.5 Altima.

I guess it could've been a GTP I would think it would've put
up more of a fight though. The GXP is a totally different looking car
than a G6 isn't it? Anyway the GTP 3.9L is making 240hp our Altima
3.5L is making 250hp and the weight on the GTP is 3,400lbs:eek:
That's a huge b!tch! I believe her Altima was 3,300 so a little less
weight and 10 more HP. Either way I think it was just a G6 I raced.

The powerband on the VQ35's are hella better from upper midrange on through as well.

I don't think so. Pontiacs all look the same to me.

The GXP is the V8 Bonneville. MUCH bigger car than the G6. Has big ol' quad-tip exhausts. Pretty sweet looking, really.

The gxp is actually a grand prix which now looks a lot like a bonneville. It has the 5.3L LS4 making 303HP and weighs in at 3600.

completely un-related but WHen I first bought the cougar, the trans went out and was under warrenty, I purchased the coug from a pontiac dealer off of thier used lot but the loaner I recieved form them was a brand new grand prix GTP the supercharged version. that F*cker was fast! anyways, just my two cents.

Aha! Thanks. I was close... 'twould be fun to drive, regardless - if the stupid General would give them a manual tranny :banghead:
Anyway, that 3.5 in the Altima is a SLIGHTLY detuned version of the one in the 350Z, which runs 14-flats right out of the box. So the Altima should be a mid- to low-14 second car.

The pushrod design on the G6 engine gives you power whenever you need it. The GTP has a 0-60 time in around 6.2 seconds and the 1/4 mile in the low 14s. And according to edmunds, the 0-60 on a new Altima SE-R is 6.61 seconds...I'm surprised to see it's that slow. Never underestimate the torque on any of Pontiac's vehicles.

What does your GTP run in the 1/4? 6.6 sounds very high I'm betting my wife's
automatic 3.5L could net a 6.6

I haven't been to the track yet, but people on the G6 forums have gotten mid to high 14s on the stock tires, which are really bad tractionwise. With a nice tire upgrade low 14s is very achievable. Not too bad for a car weighing 3400+ lbs.
