Feb Meet: Auto Show: Saturday Feb 11th.

I'm trying to plan ahead here. :)

Let's do Feb 11th for the Auto Show. I picked that weekend based on comments from the January Poll thread.

Let's meet at 10:30 am. We probably won't get the best parking, but I'm hoping those coming from further away can still make it without having to leave at 3 am.

And, per tradition, we'll have dinner at Connie's Pizza in Westmont afterward. :)


IMPORTANT DETAILS (to be updated as things change, so check back often to make sure you know the latest).

- Date: Saturday, Feb 11th.
- Meeting Time: 10:30 am (looking to start driving down close to 11:00) Subject to change if enough people ask it to be later.
- Meeting Place: Oak Brook Center Mall in Oak Brook, IL at the corner of Route 83 and 22nd Street. West side of Marshall Fields near the street. This location is prime for for getting on the highway with as few turns as possible.
- Timing: I figure we'll be at the show for 3 or 4 hours. I'll set a meeting time again so no one gets left behind.
- Food: After we leave the show we'll go to Connie's Pizza in Westmont (near Oak Brook)
- Driving: Since the show is downtown Chicago... we will need to take as few cars as possible so plan to car pool. I know its a Cougar meet and all, but with parking as expensive as it is, and we never know where we'll even get to park... its easier keeping track of 4 drivers than it is 12. We'll group up at Oak Brook Mall, and then leave cars there. After the show, we'll come back for the cars and take them all to eat, etc. Also, we'll try and make sure there's a radio per car driving...

Alrighty... January's meet was a huge success, time to get started on February. The details are in the first post (and I'll keep it updated with the important stuff so we don't have details getting lost)... let me know if you can make it. And Unless I get some people saying 8:30 is too early... we'll stick with 8:30. The out-of-towners will probably find that too early, so lets hear of some times you can make it here without having to wake up at midnight. I'm okay with it being later... if it means more people getting to go.

Yeah, I know its really early... but if any of you guys say you know for sure you are going... then pick what time you want to wake up, and figure what time you can be here, and we'll change the meeting time to later. Early is usually better to avoid the crowds, and park in a decent garage... but we've gotten down there at 1 pm before, and still got to park (albeit, about 6 blocks south in what I would call "the ghetto" but at least we had a shuttle to take us back and forth) and it wasn't *that* crowded... I'm skilled at charging my way through crowds.

We will go forsure.. we might just go on our own though and meet up at Connies after though... Every year we basically break up into groups anyways when looking at the cars

McCormick place is pretty easy to find. It's right off Lake Shore Drive, just south of Soldier Field.

Yes, definitely buy tickets online... I think its chicagoautoshow.com or something.

Also, I've seen several people say it was too early, and I know that... I was hoping someone would suggest a new time and we'd work off that... basically coming up with a time that was okay with everyone.

The weather's predicting snow for the weekend. I'm getting my new wheels and tires mounted this week, and if the weather is too bad, I may have to sit this one out. A weekend off to decompress a bit wouldn't be the worst thing in the world either.
