What kind of windshield wipers are all of you guys using? Mine are terrible. They leave streaks, ice up etc etc.
Anybody using the Reflex blades? You know, the one's advertised without the hinges? They look pretty good, but maybe too good to be true so I thought I'd ask. I'm really looking for something that performs well in all-season as opposed to just winter. Even in just the rain my current wipers suck!
Thanks for the input.

I have always liked and used "Triple Edge" wiper blades commonly sold for around $6-7 a peice. They are made with Jirmak Silicon and hold up much better than the rubber ones. They give a lifetime warranty but i find myself replacing them every 12-18 months. Still, I highly reccommend them and use them excluisvly after having tried several kinds.

i dont know if they make them for our cars but the ones that have two wipers blades you should stay away from ...ice builds up in between them and lifts them while driving...their useless....just as a heads up....

stock wipers have always worked very well for me...and they last 2-3 years...
i've tried other crappy tire brands and they never last more than a few months...in the end, you get what you pay for...

weird...the "stock" wipers have never worked well for me  .
I bought my car in August '03 and can remember back to last fall & winter them being horrible and rain and snow! They'd been on the car for a few years by then, so I guess that's why. I really just "put up with it" for a couple years, but I just can't this year because they're so bad.
I've heard about those "triple edge" blades so maybe I'l try those out if nobody comes up with a review on the Reflex blades..

Snow blades for the winter! ;)
The thing is people never change their blades regularly. Like your fuel filter, it is a maintenance item. You should replace them once a year or more. Not wait until you can barely see out the window.;)

Ford has come out with new "premium" wiper blades. They have been amazing for me. I would suggest them.

I tried Bosch once and didn't like them at all.
I only use Anco's now.
I don't like winter blades because at highway speeds they seem to lift more because the air doesn't go thru them. IMO you drive more often at highway speeds then you do in icy conditions, therefore the winter blades aren't worth it.
Rain-X makes any wiper blade work better and last longer, use it!

I have the aerofoils on mine and they work great. I've used the standard winter blades in the winter, but they dont stick to the windshield too well on the highway....I'm due up for new blades myself. I'm gonna try those REflex blades from Canadian Tire...My buddy has had them on his Matrix since last Jaa and he swears by them...Mercedes are using their own version on their cars now. They are awesome on my dads car. No hinges or anything so they don't freeze up on ya, and they are aerodynamically shaped to stay on the windshield.

I use the Reflex blades and they are amazing! I'll never use anything else. They cost an arm and a leg, but they're worth it. I've had the ones on my daily driver on now for over a year, during the winter and summer, and no problems. I also recommend Rain-X for added improvement.

I found a set of Genuine Ford Blades in an old box. I put those on and I must say I'm impressed! I also picked up some Windsheid washer with Rain-X, Good stuff!

There crazy priced though...Around $50 for 2 Reflex blades...for a 21 and 20 inch to take care of the front....if you want the back its close to $80 with tax for 3....that's crazy

ReFlex all the way...I've had em on now for a few weeks and they are just brilliant!!! They don't come off the windshield on the highway and they don't freeze up...Cougars size are 22"-Driver and 20"-Pass. I would just buy a run-of-the-mill blade for the back...Dunno about you but its not vitally important in the back for a really good blade....Besides...I know I don't use it that often.
Ths RainX stuff...Thats not the stuff with the teflon additive is it. I've been told that windshield fluild with that in it causes permanent spotting on the windshield after prolonged use.

I have Teflon Blade wipers. They are quiet and leave no streaks, unlike my Crappy Tire blades... Pricey but definetly worth it.

Same here. My Starving Artist budget and all... LOL! I think I will have to replace it because the rubber at the bottom no longer touches the window. I supposed I didn't do any good by trying to wipe the window with frost/snow on it. :banghead: I'll wait till the warmer weather comes to replace it though. Would it be worth investing in a Teflon Blade for the back as well? Or should I just get something cheaper?

I used to have a horrible time with wipers... i'd buy the nice teflon ones only to have them rusting less than a year later.
Now, i just buy the $4.99 ones at Canadian tire, and if they last 3 months, then thats just fine. ;)

If you change them that often, then that's cool. I've had the Teflon's for about a year now...Technically, its time to change them but until I see streaks...
I might just pick one up for my rear from Canadian Tire then.

well its more that I would spend the $50+ bucks on a nice pair, and they wouldn't even last a year! heh, so by getting a pair for $10... twice a year, thats less than half the cost of the nice ones.

But, But, Matt, they look so cool and you can tell all your friends you have $50 Reflex blades! You would be the envy of Ottawa!

haha, envy of ottawa.. haha
my roomate has reflex blades on her 1987 GMC truck... she came home all excited to tell me that she was "modifiying" her car.. oh goodness...
they do seem to work well though!
the 50$ turns me off aswell... I understand.. we people from Ottawa don't believe in 50$ windsheild wipers!

I think I'm going to count the number of times I drive the car this year...
I get it from like... May to October :( I've only got 110,000kms on it though (and I BOUGHT it with 65,000kms) ... at this rate, it will last until the internal combustion engine is outlaw'd

i just noticed with my wipers (the teflon metal framed aerofoil blades) that the numerous slaps on the windsheild whislt driving has flatened them out a bit...so i just gave them a little tweaking ( pretty near put 10*back into the curve on them and they work good as new...
My new found advice dont slap your wipers on the winshield to get the shizzat off them....cause it will drastically reduce the life span of them...unless you just bend them back again...hehe
(BTW i think someone already said that these ARE a regular maintenance item and should be changed probably yearly anyway... Unless of course you just bend them and continue to do so until the rubber falls off..

Kind of like my rear wiper? The bottom part of the wiper no longer touches the window... I tend to be quick with trying to get the ice off the back window, so I usually abuse the rear wiper. I'm waiting till Spring to pick up a new one.

Same thing happened to mine, there was 6" of rubber hanging off the top of the blade. I just replaced it with one I had lying around in the garage.

yeah just becarefull with that hangin rubber...my wifes car was like that and...well...let me tell more of the story first..
she is always in a hurry every morning so when it comes to scraping the window it is done a violent fury as fast as she possibly can...anyway one day in her fury she was scraping she smoked the wiper and the rubber peeled right off the frame...Passenger side...nedless to say she didnt notice...driving to work all she can here is this crazy scratching noise and couldnt figure it out...she gets home that night and i notice not only did she rip the rubber off but bent the metal down on to the windshield...now t is all scratched to shizzat...3rd new windshield for the spring now...lol
Moral of the story....make sure there is always rubber contacting the windshield...she has since hit the drivers side with the scraper and bent the very corner of the metal that holds the rubber on down to the windshield, and scratched up the drivers side too...
