A big @ss flamethrower!!! The car is pissing me off. It is dead again, and I think the ALT IS the prob. After two dead batteries and one hell of an adventurous eve' of rolling death as it struggled to stay alive before dying several times. This makes me want to punt the F'n cat across the room, set sh!t on fire and verbally abuse the house plant!!!! I need to go to sleep..............

ummm.... u've got issues
so yea, the alt is not the best thing to replace. last time i got mine done, i paid like some $230, parts and labor, both with warranty. of course, $150 of those were for the alt itself. if you wanna take the challenge and replace the alt yourself, you'll be saving yourself some $100 bucks or so.

I'd pay the $100 extra . . . they put the alternator in the worst position for replacement

its really not that hard if you take the passenger tire off and remove the fender lining and the splash shield under the fender lining. once you remove those two things its starring you right in the face and can be removed quite easily.

Looks like I will come out on top here. Not only do I get to replace the ALT, but found the time to gut the cats, and look at all the wires that I am going to replace (the Big 3). So all appears to be well.

Guess I will update this... Rebuilt ALT (140 Amps) is in, cats gutted, Car is running. All seems great 'cept the med whining noise coming from the new ALT........ hmmm. Goes away when I gas it, then a few seconds later after it had returned to idle, the noise comes back. Not coming from speakers or anything, straight from the ALT. The batt' is "NEW", but did get pretty drained after the ALT died but never whent completely dead. So I am hoping that is the deal, and if it is, I am just going to switch the batt' out with another new one instead of having the new ALT struggle to recharge it....
