Seriously....lol

Ok what I'm looking at right now is Infinity Kappa speakers and a Kenwood headunit...what I need to know is what or what can I put in the door...I know the backs are 5x7/6x8...but I thought it wierd when I went to Ultimate Electronics that said 6x8 all-round....shouldn't they be like 5 1/4 or something in the doors? I've also heard that speakers with an imbedded tweeter sound like ass...should this sound ok?

I think the headunit is the Kenwood KDC-X589 or something close to it...so should I go with what Ultimate Electronics said and put 6x8s all around? Won't that sound bad? I need to add I won't be adding an amp to this setup YET...I'll get there when I get a job...Need some info and some insight...BTW this is my first mod :evil:

Links to components I'm looking at...

Headunit = Headunit if you're to lazy to look it up :rofl: (http://www.crutchfield.com/S-1452bEeD25K/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?search=Kenwood+KDC%2DX589&i=113KDCX589)
Speaker = 6x8 (http://www.infinitysystems.com/caraudio/product.aspx?ProdId='KAPPA682.7CF'&Ser=KAP&Cat=MEL)
Speaker = 5 1/4 (http://www.infinitysystems.com/caraudio/product.aspx?ProdId='KAPPA52.7I'&Ser=KAP&Cat=MEL)

wow this one has only been answered a billion and one times...

yes all the factory speakers are 5x7/ 6x8...

most people keep them that way...some upgrade to 6 1/2" components..that requires building a spacer plate though...

mine are Pheonix gold tantrum 5x7 coax...sound fine to me

kappa's are very nice especially if you go with the "Perfect" series as opposed to the "Reference" or base line

you could use either speakers but if not going with an amp and just running off headunit, i suggest the 5.25 since they require less power 55w rms and 6x8 would like more around 100w rms, and the headunit will only be putting out 22w rms.

and the shop is right we do have 6x8 all the way around but you can install 5.25 by either make an adapter plate out of plexi or crutchfeild sells plates http://www.crutchfield.com/S-2uFuVeJcbYz/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=103200&I=142SA68

I know this is an old topic...that's why I know half the stuff I know now...I just wasn't sure about the size of the door speakers...Will it sound wierd with 6x8 all around or should I go with 5.25 for the front and 6x8 in the back? Or will their be a noticeable difference? Will this even work?

No it won't sound "wierd" to have matching speakers all the way around. See evenually if you put subs in the car the front speakers will be heard more. Kappas are nice speakers but are on the pricey side. I'm not a huge fan of Kenwood but if you seem to like it, go for it. I would recommend Alpine or Pioneer, they seem to put out some quality HU's. I've even had a Rockford HU that served me very well before I went to the carputer.
