just looking to see if there is any intrest for this i forget the specs but it opens up the intake far past the svt bore, i got a price of $330 for a group might be able to get it a little lower but not much. This is just an interest check so no group buy for these as of yet because i still have to come up with money for the other group buys i started. so just post if you would be interested

Where is the company that you talked to located? There is an Extrude hone place down the road from my work and I have been thinking about running in and talking to them about doing this work.

Later in the year? Before fest 2k6? If thats the case (sent and received before then) I'd definitely be in for this. Theres that whole income tax thing coming around and i need a worthy place to spend the money.

You can contact the Extrude Hone, Powerflow Performance Parts division by loging on to their new web site: www.gethoned.com
All the information on pricing and group buys is there. You can even send an e-mail from this site to the Powerflow division manager (Rick Miller). He has a ton of knowledge on port & polished manifolds and heads.

Ah regardless of when this happens put me down. If it comes down to it ill just go to fest with my stock UIM. Can someone tell me how long the last EH gb took? More importantly, will the figures be the same as they were from the last one (correct me if I'm wrong but, 198 CFM was the final number right?).
CougarGuy939
12-19-2005, 01:16 PM
acutally i talked to rick miller at extrude hone and he said the max was only 193cfm so that is what we are going to use for specs

Late Feb. or sometime in March is good for me.
So stock cougar is 160cfm...and if i send in my STOCK cougar one it will be taken out to 193cfm? What i am asking is will all the intakes get the same amount of "passes"?...or will they get a varying amount of "passes " (whatever it takes to equal 193cfm?)
Like if you were to send in an SVT one it would not take as much to get it to 193cfm. But a cougar one would take at least one more pass than an SVT one.
CougarGuy939
12-20-2005, 12:25 AM
i asked that question specifically and i was told that they will all come back at 193cfm

oh just some random tidbits, since its a PO box, you have to use the US Post to mail to them.
the UIM weights about 19 pounds, so including 300 for insurance and delivery confermation, it cost me 20 bucks to mail it from chicago

Hmm, this question is directed more at people that have already had this done but, I custom painted my UIM (which was a royal pain in the ass) and was wondering if this process would have any effect on my UIM's paintjob.

it shouldnt have any effect [I've never heard any complaints about the SVT ones they have done]. it'd be more likely to be damaged during shipping. you can all ways call Rick and ask.

ok, interest and PAYING people are 2 very very different things.
I'd highly doubt you get 10 people with money in hand, and a spare UIM [or winter beater]. but if you do, more power to you.

cool,
hey cougarguy, since your the one organizing this, do you wanna ask for me if he will do special pricing on LIM also [since I already have my UIM done]
CougarGuy939
01-08-2006, 03:28 PM
sure i can ask but what do you want the lim honed out?
Rikenbomb
01-08-2006, 04:57 PM
bensenvill, as long as you have the SVT LIM you should be fine. The UIM is one of the big restrictors there. I would suggest getting an optimized SVT TB from Brad Noon.
nandalora
01-25-2006, 10:39 AM
I am in as long as the price stays below $300. I've wanted to do this for a while. BUT, if the local Extrude Hone will do this for me for less, I'll do it there and see if the'd be interested in a group buy. (this is the same Extrude Hone that Jason emailed)
-Nick A.
DagerOne
01-25-2006, 07:44 PM
So, if I'm reading this right...it would be silly to send off an SVT UIM since it would come back with the same flow as a stock UIM, right? And as SVT UIM's generally are sold in the $300, it would also potentially be silly to buy such a thing if you can get a stock UIM EH'd to a better flow for the same about of money or less anyway, right?
(ignoring any potential esthetic benefits one might perceive with the SVT over the stock UIM, granted)
CougarGuy939
01-25-2006, 11:56 PM
well the stock manifold flows like 155cfm and the svt one flows like 160cfm, after the process of extrude honing it out to the max it will flow 193cfm. I'm sure that the last figure is correct the other two for stock and svt may be wrong but im sure they are close. so no matter which you have stock or svt it will come back 193cfm
BasSpyder
01-26-2006, 12:44 AM
its a better deal to send off a stock one than a svt one. thats the way im lookin at it, any word onthis yet?
CougarGuy939
01-26-2006, 08:26 AM
well it doesnt really matter which one you send they are both going to come back the same
DagerOne
01-26-2006, 09:41 AM
It's not about what they come back as that makes them a "deal" or not, CG939...it's the point of spending $300+ for an SVT UIM and $285 to get it to the 193cfm, or next to nothing for a stock UIM and $285 to get 193cfm.
CougarGuy939
01-26-2006, 10:26 AM
oh ok i misunderstood, yes unless you really love that black powdercoated look then yes i suppose that would be a waste of money
Murdock
01-26-2006, 11:02 AM
One quick question about the honing. Will the honing be worth it on a stock engine...meaning no SVT upgrades? If so, I will also be in on the buy (as long as I find a second UIM).
CougarGuy939
01-26-2006, 12:10 PM
well it will definately increase airflow, and other svt parts would help but you should see a decent gain from doing just the intake, (im not the most mechanical person so others please chime in)
ilovemycar
01-26-2006, 01:07 PM
I just got another email from Sheila at Extrude Hone, if we can get ten buyers the price falls to $285 per set plus shipping
1-9 Buyers= $330 plus shipping
10+ Buyers=$285 plus shipping
So for just one intake to get "Maxed out" it would cost 330+ shipping?
CougarGuy939
01-26-2006, 04:18 PM
yes it will be $330 plus shipping at this time

well I just got my max-honed back today in the mail.
very very impressed. it looks absolutely spectacular.
anyways, just for ****s and giggles I threw it on the scale to get the weight. 14.65 pounds. Which threw me off guard because the shipping weight to them was 19.1 pounds [granted that included the box but thats still a big difference].
XplosivePlushToy
01-27-2006, 04:25 PM
Hooray for weight reduction! Even more reason I want to get in on this GB. Hopefully my return will be enough that after this, I'll still be able to get my new combat shotgun.

its more complicated than that, you have alot of casting that needs grinding off and a fair amount of deburring. otherwise it will look like ass.

Waste of $ on the 2.5L engine unless you have FI.
then explain why you feel a difference when you put just an svt uim on a stock 2.5 and that is only 5cfm gain this is a whole lot more, obviously supporting mods will help but regardless its worth the money
then explain why you feel a difference when you put just an svt uim on a stock 2.5 and that is only 5cfm gain this is a whole lot more, obviously supporting mods will help but regardless its worth the money
I did not say there is absolutely no difference, but the cost outweighs the gain IMO. That $ would be better spent tossing some nitrous on.
