Okay so here recently in the last month I've had some car problems. Crazy cuz I only have 64k on my car. Nov. 16th I took it into Jeep Lincoln Mercury dealer and I got my rearbank catalytic converter fixed (I know what they tell me I just don't know what it is lol). Then day after thanksgiving my engine light came on again. :banghead: I took it back in and got the intake manifold fixed. So what's next?? All I do have to say that has been good is the converter was under waranty, but the gaskets were not. My struts are bad, so I do have to get those fixed, but then what?? Just curious if anyone could predict the future,so I can prepare. :) Thanks LOL

It's impossible to predict what will go bad in the future. What I can tell you is you have a 6 yr old car @ 64k. Struts are a normal wear and tear item and a six year old car is going to typically have some things needing replaced. It sucks, but it's par for the course.

Suspension related items (which struts count as) and hoses are the most common things to go up in any 6 year old car. It's a pain to have to come out of pocket to fix a problem, but it still beats the pants off a car payment.

Seeing as your @ the 60k marker, it's a general good rule of thumb to have the car spark plugs, spark plug wires, transmission fluid, fuel filter, and belts replaced if they have not been done yet. Ask your mechanic to check the hoses and suspension.

Hope this helps

One the 5-year mark is past, it feels like every car starts to have a few problems. My dad keeps reminding me that fixing a few things here & there is still cheaper than having to make a car payment every month. I know it's true, but it still sucks. So, I know what you mean!!

I would expect to have the brakes done if you havn't yet mine went at around 70k, if you havn't done your alternator yet expect it to go south around 90k and make sure you change your belts and fluids. Its just maintance. Get yourself a boyfriend who can work on cars would save you a ton.

It's probably a good thing I didn't catch the guy that hit mine, cuz I probably would've killed him, and it was just knick. But dang, I'm so sorry Ash :( Let me know if there's anything I can do.

DO NOT LET YOUR INSURANCE FORCE YOU INTO THE SHOP OF THIER CHOICE. I myself have had great luck at friendly ford off glenstone for body work. They have a full shop deticated to it. Do you have a large part of the bill you have to pay up front or is your insurance truly full coverage?

Yeah, I used Friendly Ford for getting my front bumper fixed & my front body kit piece repainted. They were amazing! Very professional & did an excellent job!

No, it's just when I looked at my receipt from when I got my bumper fixed...it said "If you refer someone, you get money off".

Okay well I went yesterday and got an estimate on my car. I went to Hammer's Auto, because I know the owners real well. My estimate is $1,800 so I'm going to just go through my insurance and then use that body shop to fix my car.

That's not too terribly bad. I hope they don't raise your premium now.
