Nope. Far as I am concerned, the small town cops are the only people who ***** about "mods". How do they know that it didn't come like that??? They really don't look at things like that, IMHO. I freakin had a cougar head painted on mine and always got a thumbs up. There are more people out there who do worse things than night shading. However, if you are in a small town with *****y ass cops, than I would steer clear of anything that is not stock.

I have some very good information for you! You must have reflectors visible from 1000' away on the rear and sides, so don't cover up all of the reflector. Also, tailights only have to emit red light, they dont have to be red. So you can paint it black, and as long as it is visible from 1000' away you are good. I put NightShades on the turnsignals of my 325Ci and haven't had any problems...
