View Full Version : Caravan from Effingham
So.. it seems a lot of chapters are meeting in Effingham
Reagan.. I guess you guys are going to be there around 1 or so
We need to coordinate with the other chapters to have everyone be there around the same time so we can all caravan to indy from there
for those that haven't been yet there is a McD's in the truckstop that whoever chose is
If we are grouping with a lot of people I think it'd be better to meet somewhere else personally
especially if people are going to want to eat and more selection than McD's
although Indy is only 2 hours away
Is there a good reason why we chose the Pilot truckstop?
How many cougars are we expecting there for all chapters?
ok I found this in NorCal..
Leave SLC, Utah ASAP. Will arrive in Lincoln, NE area around 10pm and meet up with StangKiller. From there, we can head straight to Effingham, IL. Most of Tornado Alley and IL NECO are going to meet in Effingham at 1pm and leave there by 1:30-2PM and head to Indy. We will be in Effingham by around 9-10am, and can get a couple hours of rest.
so they will actually be in Effingham before you guys

Gateway is planning on being there around 1, give or take. As far as I know, the Pilot station was chosen because that is where we met last year. I'm not opposed to changing the meet point, but it should probably be somewhere off I-70 east of I-57 to keep the Chicago people from back tracking too much.
Right now the Gateway caravan is looking like it will only be 4 cars.

So far from my count there will be 5 cars coming from IL, including myself.

Yep, Pilot station was just chosen because we used it last year... and we don't like to alter what works. :)
And last year I think it was your suggestion, Tad. :) heh heh. But I think it was specifically because its practically at the intersection of 57 and 70, if I remember correctly.
I'm okay with moving to a new location... I hadn't even thought about food. I think last year we did the whole trip without eating. Completely forgot about food until we got to Indy and then wondered why we were so hungary.

We ate at the BK here in St. Louis before heading to Effingham last year.
well reagan 57 and 70 run together the whole length of effingham basically
but anyway.. pilot is fine but.. depending upon the # of cougars it might be difficult to find parking as it was last year if you remember
oh well i guess we can play that by ear
i'm gettin pumped.. who's with me?!?

NorCal NECO will be there with a route change-
SLC first, then to Denver, then through BFE Kansas into Kansas City, St. Louis, and then Effingham. :)

Heh... I never looked at a map... so I don't know what I'm entirely talking about.

Map? who needs a stinkin' map? :) I did that entire 5,400 mile Road trip without a single state map and we didn't get lost once.
We pretty much used Mapquest directions, and once we got to hotels we did use the Downtown maps of cities... so we had mini-maps of our destinations.
Besides... Heather's the Caravan planner... but I actually lead the line because she doesn't like to be in front.
