View Full Version : So, uh....what's up w/this Chapter?

I don't want to sound like Mr. big, bad Admin here but it's quite the ghost town here. Only 6 topics, not including this one, not much activity it seems in the way of meets or anything really. One of your Mods no longer owns a Cougar (which is somewhat OK if they are active w/the Chapter).

Are you guys recruiting local people or trying to expand your Chapter's membership at all?

personally, I never really saw the need for this chapter to begin with.
but since I'm too busy to be an active member anyway, my thoughts don't count.
I doubt anyone would suffer if this chapter ceased to exist.

Kim, it has been the atitude like you just demonstrated that has doomed this chapter. When I went to start this chapter, it seemed like the Mass/Conners were not interested because I was honing in on thier territory/people. You are a very selfish and rude individual Kim. You have a very high opinion of yourself. This attitude was demonstrated at Cougarfest and Fun Ford weekend where it seemed like you were embarrased to hang out with members from your own chapter. If you don't like This chapter then you can stay far away from it. Continue your charade as a nice person if you wish. Just please leave your opinions on this chapter to yourself.

Scullin, this is Summer. I personally am VERY busy. The annual trip to Cougarfest, supporting autocrossing at NHIS, Fun Ford Weekend and a random meet has been my typical year since I have joined this forum. With lack of interest in this area and my move into a new house, Cougarfest is a no go this year. I tried to support Autocrossing for the last 3 years, but nobody bit. (I still showed my support when I could.) Fun Ford Weekend was the only event I was going to push for member support this year. I have gone the last 3 years and had a blast. Unfortunatly, I promoted the heck out of the event last year and it rained and only a few members showed. I'm going to try to get more people to go this year . We will see.

This was an active forum for a while. It was a fun one. I liked how we joked around and "Pirated" each others posts. Since the time you guys deleted all the posts, it has become warmer weather. Nobody is going to be a hermit in the summer like they are in the winter. Hence the 6 posts... During the cold months I am very active here. I have no doubt that this chapter will be buzzing again come Fall.

My original goal was to be a Mass/Conn twin. I wanted to be the chapter to create the "Northern meets" while Mass/Conn has the "Southern meets" I figured we would work in conjunction with Mass/Conn to create a cooperative, event-full union. Instead, Mass/Conn gives no support and looks at this chapter as the bastard child. I was scorned for trying to promote a Northern meet on Mass/Conn!

Anyways, if you want to continue to talk on this matter, feel free to PM me. I'm not too impressed that you would post this sort of thing without PMming a Moderator first.

Well you make too many assumptions then because I'm embarassed of no one, except maybe your on again off again enthusiasm for your own Cougar.
I parked next to you all at the CF Show n Shine and I thought we all had quite a bit of fun.
There are about a bazillion people I wanted to meet at CF04, so that's what I did. Met other people from other chapters when I had the 4 day window of opportunity.
How can that mean I'm snubbing my local chapter?
Let's not forget that my frickin trailer had way too many problems to list on the drive out, so I had to miss a bunch of events trying to get the trailer issue sorted out so I could actually make the drive back home!!! but I guess you didn't know that huh? There's a lot you don't know about me so you're basing your assumptions on jack squat.
I told Don he could keep the money I paid to autocross even though I had to miss that event due to the trailer. How's that for selfish?

Not to mention that there are many more things to do at both CF and FFW than to just sit around and focus only on a small selection of people I can see any other time of the year. View show cars, watch drag races, etc etc. That's what you pay for at these events, so it's best to take full advantage of your money.
Why spend the money to go to events if you're only going to hang with a small circle of the people you know and not meet other people, vendors, get entertained, etc.

selfish and rude? I've taken on moderator status on contour.org for both my local chapter and for the Common Interests forum, which is much like our Lounge and needs quite a bit of attention. That's VOLUNTEER work that I have to make time for. And I contribute funds to keep that site alive and kicking. That's pretty damn selfless if you ask me. I was a CEGer before I was ever a member of NECO, so my time is filled up with those events. EXCUSE ME if I can't put this community first even though I have more ties, fulfillments and strong relationships with my roots at contour.org.

again, you know nothing about me, so before you even attempt to get to know me better, keep your uneducated assumptions to yourself.

Wow...you're flying off the handle for no reason.

I never said this Chapter was going to be shut down and it's not. I simply asked where is everyone and why isn't there more new people from the covered areas.

Pointing out other Chapters thread count wasn't needed. And most of those have been around for a long time. The 2 U.K. sections are empty because they formed their own board over there where it could better cater to them in terms of local shops for stuff & dealership issues.

Even if it's just chatter it shows the Chapter is still active.

Scullin, I just got defensive because I am single handedly keeping this chapter alive. As soon as you make this post, Kim came to pounce on the chapters demise like a lion to the kill. This chapter has been a good source of fun for alot of members. Her comments were rude and un called for.

I agree, I've seen a couple Cougars in Dover, but it's never when I'm in mine. Does anyone know a good place to meet up at in Manchester?
Maybe we could do a Mt. Washington climb?

Just trying to throw out some ideas, think they've been talked about before though.

Xerxeese did the Mt. Washington thing last year. I wouldn't mind setting that trip up again. We would have to do it relatively soon becuase it gets cold up there! I wanted to do a scenic fall tour up in Northern NH. Once I get moved into my new place I will research a route and make an announcement. There are some good windey back roads, we could plan a trip that would end at Mt. Washington.

Feel free to make suggestions or help rally some interest!

the Mt Washington climb was great ! I would be happy to host that again. But I would need more cougars there.. (especially since Im in a mustang now) I could also cross it with the Mustang forum I am on. we could get something good going on!

You should also cross it with the Jeep club. We could have a huge group!

I thought about that, then remembered a few things.
The jeeps generally run oversized mud terrain tires.
The road up isnt paved the whole way. These tires would easily toss rocks (i know, ive done it in mine) and without any kind of mudflaps, and a caravan etc I see some dings and scratches on vehicles we want to keep nice.

Nice thought though.
We COULD invite CEG. I have no problems with that :)

There is just the matter of when this will happen.
