You may know that I was planning to tow the Cougar to Indy with my motorhome. Well, that is coming pretty close to "fizzle" status...
I ordered the tow dolly two and a half weeks ago, and the manager of the shop to me he didn't think there'd be any problem getting it by yesterday (the 22nd). I call them yesterday, and they say it'll be today. For sure. Well, today rolls around, and no tow dollies have been delivered to the store. I was in Waldorf all day looking into alternatives and hoping something would turn up. No one else in the area seems to sell them, and I can't buy a full flatbed trailer because I have no place to store it.
The guy at U-Haul looked at me like I was crazy when I said I needed it for more than a week, and he couldn't rent the one he had that long due to a reservation. I called the RV dealer and Camping World in Manassas and they didn't sell them.
The shop where I have the dolly on order probably will get it Monday afternoon, I'm guessing. I was planning to arrive in Indianapolis tomorrow (Sunday, July 24). I'm seriously considering taking just the camper out there and just renting a car. I know, that sucks, since it is CougarFest, but I had a lot of plans for things to do out there next week (before Fest) and I don't want to give up those plans. Oddly enough, renting a car would likely be cheaper than renting the tow dolly.
The other option would be to wait for the tow dolly and (in all likelihood) arrive in Indianapolis late Tuesday, which means I'd have only Wednesday and Thursday to spend there before Fest. I was planning to take a day-trip to Chicago to see a museum, then another day-trip to a museum north of Indianapolis, spending a day cleaning the car and the camper, and spend time just generally relaxing and chilling out.
I actually had to unload some of the stuff I'd already put in the camper so that I can stay in my condo another day or two. I stopped at the ABC store on the way home to pick up some Margarita supplies. Definitely going to need some tonight. :banghead:
P.S. Okay, I've thought it over - I'm going to take the camper out there tomorrow, and rent a car. :( Well, at least I'll have the R/C Cougar. :)
