I have searched and havnt found many posts on these issue......well at least enough to answer my questions.

So I want to change the bulbs to blue (or whiteblue, not really blue blue). I have seen post about LED stuff and stuff. I went to pep-boy/autozone yesterday and saw the blue bulb replacement. Is this all that needs to be done??? Or are there better ways to do it?

Thanks.

Rember this is just for the dome/glove/hatch lights - I have seen the post for the "other" LED lights that can be replaced.

replace em and see how u like em, if ya like em then keep em ... if not, try it with LEDs ... only thing i disliked about these bulbs is they get super hot

the bulbs are cheap enough where it's not going to hurt if you just buy one (or a pair if that's how they come and replace them one at a time to see if you like what it does. I am not sure about the blue, but I know most of the red ones were always more a pinkish.

However, if you run a search in google for "*bulb size* LED lights" I've seen companies which make just about every size bulb with LEDs instead of the regular element bulbs which will be much more intensely colored... but they are also much more expensive (if I remember correctly some were around $10 a bulb).

They may look fine, but if they aren't an intense enough color for you, if you do more blue neon lighting or anything in your car, it make not match it right... but for the cost, it's worth trying the cheaper way first. If you don't like it you lost what? $5?

Thanks for the input.

I still have to wait till the night time to really see the effects. I just a blue bulb during the day.

And if I dont like it, i am not going to loose a penny - I will return it and get my money back!! :goofy:

I have to eliminate all wasteges so I can offord a Kit, taillight covers, painting the kit & covers, coilovers, koni, possible CF hood, CF gas cap, CF, side mirror cover, tint the tail lights, and last but not least, get some rims & tires. That should bout suck up all my summer money.

$1400 for kit and other exterior mods
$1200 on suspension
$1000-$2000 atleast for installation and install depending on the kit
$1200 for rims/tires

yeah i'd say 4600 would be about right ... i just dumped more than that just on install/paint + body parts but then again i had the entire car repainted ... and thats not including rims/tires or any sort of suspension.

They look blue initially, but they heat up and melt the "blue" part, and turn it greenish.

Go down to RadioShack, get some blue LED's, and just do that. It may be a little more difficult, but its worth it (LED's won't melt and turn green, I dont think).

I though the greenish was from the blue cover things that go over the bulbs. Not a "blue" bulb - but I fell asleep last night and wasnt able to check. I have to wait till tonight.....

DAAAAAMMMMMMMM custom_images/emoticons/shocked.gif (pardon my language)

It just sucks so much to actually "see" the numbers. You payed that much just to paint & body parts - wow. This mod business is EXPENSIVE. I dont think im going that far. Not on this car at least. I just want some nice aesthetics.

Seems like the major money suckers are the suspension, rims, and kits. Wow - wish me luck.

radioshack? cool - and do what exactly with the LED's. Do they already come in the bulb shape?

Sorry, I was referring to doing the LED thing where you do the full LED conversion thing, like the other threads talk about. Not a "direct replacement" LED bulb.

O, ok. I knew about the LED replacement stuff for all the other "little" bulbs (like on the door and trunk release, etc). That is on my to do list.

you can also find real affordable, direct bulb size replacement LED bulbs for every bulb size made on this website supperbrightLEDs (http://www.superbrightleds.com/led_prods.htm) they have EVERYTHING including the "festoon" type led bulbs that your initial post was about, just pull your stock bulb out and get the number off of it and order the appropriate led bulb from them.

also an advantage in doing this over conventional bulbs is LED's have about 1 million hours or some such thing....you will NEVER have to replace them again unless you damage them somehow.

in this picture the autometer guages on my pillar pod have LED replacement bulbs in them and they are very colorfull not dilluted like conventional bulbs will be
