Might be coming to UK!!

I might be flying into the UK for two weeks. I will be arriving and departing out of the Heathrow airport in London. I was going to get a hotel room for those nights that I am staying but I was wondering if someone there could let me stay and show me the sights? I also wanted to go to Manchester to see a friend but would happily pay for the travel time. The dates I was thinking about are Aug 7-21. If anyone could help me out it would be great.
