View Full Version : Weekend plans anyone
Well I have no plans this weekend as far as I can remember
I was wondering if someone wanted to get together to do some hella custom work
I haven't had much time since I moved to do anything serious.. been mainly settling in and what not
now I want to start a project or two or three
I want to either do one of the following..
fabricate a completely custom...
spoiler
center console
dash surrounding radio (i've already started one of these)
or do a sub box
if anyone wants me to do one of these for you also it could possible be arranged if you want to hang out and work on yours with me or whatever
I'm not really good at this sort of stuff yet but I have done a few things here and there
I need to figure out where I can get all the products I will need first
I think a schuck's will have it or know where I can go to get it
also i'm willing to drive out of town to meet at someone's place.. I live in Seattle but I'm willing to drive like an hour or so to get out of town for the weekend
anyone interested?

I have a stock guage that I'm de-greening. I'm about half done with the "prep", then need help replacing mine with this one and resetting the needles. I may come up... What part of SEA are you in?

oh... I just remembered another little project I want to get done... I want to clean out the inside of my headlights and nite shade the orange corners - but haven't been able to find any NiteShade locally.

As I replied in the other post, I don't have $500 at this moment to make a custom sub box which we have been discussing for the past week or so. However Iam still interested in a mod meet. It doesn't matter what mods we do or whose car we work on. Even though I don't have much money which I can spend on new mods now, I already have tons of stuffs sitting around at home that I never got the time to install. Both things that Goldie have in mind is also on my list of things to do. For my gauge, I'll be installing a custom face gauge, replace stock bulbs and install intelliglow needles. As for my headlights, I want to remove the orange reflectors as well and install some clear reflectors. Don't know what materials I should use for making clear corners though. One option would be to buy a large piece of clear reflector made for other cars and cut it to fit our cars. If we can make these for 2,3 or more cars with a one time job, it might be a good idea. Maybe even make some demon eyes for the headlights?
Aside from the 2 things mentioned above, others things that I plan to do soon and already have parts for include speakers, head unit, amp, sound deadening(mat&paint), aluminum fuel door, vinyl graphics/wind shield sticker, racing harness belts and fog lights. The most important thing for me now is to figure a nice way to install my harness belts. Last weekend I removed my stock seat belts and I then found out that I couldn't install my harness belts. I know it sounds very stupid. I should have made sure that I could install my harness belts before removing my stock belts. Right now I got no seat belts what so ever on my car which is a very very bad thing. I know I can have my stock ones put back, but I went through the trouble and time to remove them so I don't feel like doing that. However if I can't figure something out before this weekend, I guess that's my only option. Iam half way through with sound deadening so that would probably be my second priority. As for the others, I haven't done anything yet.
Hope this can end up like some mini meet. It's always true, the more people, the more fun we get. I should be available both this weekend and the next one. After that Iam not sure. Let me know what you guys have in mind. Thanks.
goldie: have you tried a schuck's?
i don't know about any auto stores around here.. back home we have autozones mainly
i live on queen anne hill.. like 5 blocks from seattle center
cougarevo: if you want we can start on your box and get a good idea of what to do
just let me know what you guys want done and ill plan for that
i can do most anything electrical/stereo wise
and most of the stuff mentioned seems easy enough to tackle as well
i'm not sure on parking though.. but i'm sure we can figure something out
my cell is 217-821-5933
gimme a call so we can figure stuff out more thoroughly
I have tons of stuff I can do to my car I just don't like to do that sort of thing alone.. and haven't met anyone out here *yet* to motivate me :)

Iam still interested with the sub box, but I rather save up enough money and build a sub box I like instead of trying to spend less money/work and end up with something I don't really like. Well my current sub box ain't that bad and I can still stick around with it for a little while longer. You said you're also planning on doing a custom sub box for your car. We can probably do that instead which would also give me an idea of how it works.
I'll just bring my parts over and we can decide then what we'll do. Iam basically up for anything. Iam not good at it, but I love doing mods, any sort of mods.

Seems like most people are interested in gauges and headlights. Probably those would be a better idea.
ok let's plan on a saturday meet then and we'll find a place in seattle area to meet between now and then
you guys want to meet afternoon/morning/what?

It's like a 4 hour drive for me to seattle so it would be a bit difficult to give an exact time. I do believe I could also make it by 11am. How about let's schedule the meet at 12 noon to give everyone a time margin to get there on time?
ok but you guys wanting to crash in seattle or what?
ok maybe that was a bad word choice :)
you wanting to stay here in seattle?
i just need to know cuz i have half-a** plans for saturday night

Let's meet somewhere everyone knows about, maybe like "Uwajimaya"? As for time, did we all agree at 12 noon? Let me know what you all decided.
Here is my cell 509-460-9608, Creston
Looking forward to meeting you all. ;)

Uwajimaya works for me... it's right up by Union station / king street station right? Is there parking there? Another easy in-and-out place is the parking lot in front of the Starbucks building (1st and Lander St - a couple blocks south of Safeco Field).
ok.. well wherever is fine.. i live pretty close to downtown as i said earlier
i have any tool we should need
as far as gauge color change.. you mean just the lcd or what exactly?
led change is easy
just bring whatever you have that we need including tool
otherwise assume i have the tool for it
if not then i guess we won't get to do the mod :)

Yeap Uwajimaya is up by union station. There is a parking lot in uwajimaya, it's not free. Either you have to buy something in their store or you have to pay for parking. There is however a small bank or a financial building of some sort just across the street from Uwajimaya's parking lot entrance. It's a small street so you can't miss it. The parking lot of that building always seem to have some parking space and it's free. I think I know the starbucks you're talking about, but there are too many starbucks around so I might get mixed up. btw, you even remember the street names of Seattle, did you live there before? Even I don't remember most of the street names. I know where is 1st but not sure about landers.
Anyway it's all in the same area and we have each others cell # so if anyone gets lost, Iam sure we can pick everyone up easily.

The starbucks building I was thinking of is "the" starbucks building ;),
http://www.nitze-stagen.com/images/pgstarbucks.jpg
but Uwajimaya works too... for those that aren't familiar with it, here's a map.
The street address is 600 5th Ave S, and it's just east of Qwest Field/Safeco Field.
as far as knowing the streets, I worked up at the Starbucks headquarters for a while, and took the train into downtown, which left from King Street Station next to Uwajimaya.
Here's everyone's info in one place...

Well so it's not the one I was thinking of. I guess I never knew where "the" starbucks building is. Probably because they don't sell starbucks coffee there? Anyway going to bed early to be able to meet you all on time tomorrow.
i have a soldering iron somewhere
but if you have one go ahead and bring one
it's 10 here.. i'm gonna go for a run
call me when you guys are close or somethin
well i hope everyone made it home safe and at least had some fun

thanks Tad for hosting and helping out (and pizza/generic diet coke)!
my guages are way bright orangy-yellow, so now that I know how to tear the dash apart, may re-do it to use the same LEDs I put in my door switches.
