Hey everybody

So I just wanted to formally introduce myself beings that I finally picked up my car last night from CougarGT. My name's Ryan, I live in the Moline/Rock Island area. I'm a full-time college student and I work for Cingular Wireless. I'm going to try to make the August meet if it's the 14th as planned as I'm going to a couple of concerts in Chicago that weekend anyways and will be in town. Unfortunately the distance and the fact I'm usually busy seven days a week when school is in may make it difficult for me to get to a lot of meets, but I definitely am going to do what I can. Anyways, its good to be on board and I look forward to getting to know all of you.

In all honesty I'm still a little surprised I bought Matt's car myself. I'd never owned a five-speed, I could count on one hand the number of times I had driven stick in my life and I had never owned anything modified. But, I acquitted myself quite well on the drive home. I'm still working on getting real good at getting in to first, but wow . . . that baby pulls like mad in second and third and even fourth. I need to get down my footwork, get new O2 sensors in it and get it on the dyno and dial it in . . . but when I do, that car is gonna be sweet.

It was odd, I thought I was going to be moving but then discovered I wasn't, so I decided to go from being a semi-interested spectator to doing everything I could to get my hands on it since money was much less of a concern now. I was shocked it lasted as long as it did, especially at that price. The timing of it couldn't have been any better for me though, he sold it just as I started my new job that was going to afford me a chance to get a new car. I was planning on waiting a couple months to save up some skrilla . . . but when this came along, I had no choice but to jump on it.

Don't hold your breath on the car staying completely stock in appearance though, you'll end up as blue as the paint. I'm planning on some lightweight, gunmetal or black 17's or 18's, a Wings West, Kaminari or No Limit body kit, Wings West or No Limit grill, painted headlight covers (to match the painted tail light covers) and an OEM carbon fiber hood. I think also if I go the No Limit route I'll remove the spoiler and replace the Mercury badges with Ford to give it a nice, sexy European look.

First on the list of things to do is O2 sensors and tuning though. I hope to have that taken care of within a month, unfortunately I'm gonna be really busy with work and vacation through the end of July so it's likely to be put off til then. I'm hoping to have her purring like a kitten by the Niles meet though.

Don't get headlight covers, I learned that they really do no justice for the car. Keep the sexy mean headlights we have. The only reason I'd ever put Headlight covers on was if the car ONLY had headlight / tail light covers.

I would just take out the orange reflectors, it definitely changes the whole look of the headlights.
