July 24th I start a new job.....

My title is going to be Actuate Corporate Engineer (makes me feel special).....

Actuate is the name of the company I work for, and well they are finally giving me the recognition I feel I deserve.... I'm going to be on a team of 6 people, the top 6 people in my company when it comes to writing and designing code.... so that makes me feel good....

My travelling is going to come down, I will still be required to travel, but the trips will be much shorter, and while on site it will be constant high pressure work (which I love to do)... essentially I sit at home for a few days, take a trip, get requirements, work non-stop for 24 hours, deliver the goods then go home.....

bonus' are going to rock too... since I will be now working closely with the sales force, when they close a major deal that i'm a part of, i get a chunk of the commission and in some instances a free trip with vacation time to take it.....

I also get a bigger and better laptop too.... and all kinds of kick ass perks... for example, I'm going to Vegas Aug 1-5.... part of my trip is to give a presentation for a topic, however since I will at that time be part of the new group, I'm also going to get a full day outing to go to lake mead and do some water sports.... all paid for....

This is like my dream job with a cherry on top of it.... so i'm all giddy about it.... the best part is, I was going to get put on this team, wether I liked it or not... i found out late last week, however they have been planning to transfer me there for weeks already, and now that they had all the paper work done they asked me if i was "ok" with it... knowing full well it's exactly what i wanted (for like the past year)....

today i got full confirmation, and everything is set, but the amount of raise i get... which is all nice and well, even with a minor raise i'll still be happy, but i'm being told it's going to be enough to make me feel even better about it....

oh and best part is.... i get to spend more time with

Sweet man, congrats!

Still working on the same codebase and such, I assume? Sounds like one helluva good bump, one of the big perks of working in IT... :D

actually i don't write our core product...

our product is an enterprise solution, made to be extended to integrate seamlessly into corporate systems.... i do the extensions, which is what usually makes the deals... having a chunk of software solve your needs without needing to train a single end-user or requiring architecture changes, is huge for corporations...
