View Full Version : Cougar is currently under the knife
I dropped off the coug at some shady looking tranny shop this morning at 7:45. Supposedly Ill have a new clutch this afternoon and hopefully will be able to shift my car again normally. (Ive been going between normal function and having to shift without the use of the clutch depending on the mood of the car). Ill try to check out the old clutch and see what kinda wear is present. Long story but its not slipping - rather just wont let me shift at all from time to time...anyway, $750 plus tax is the damage. Ill let ya know how it goes. (and Jeff better be right about this place being good and stuff cuz it looked pretty ghetto to me)

Prolly smart to have it done. Sounds like a decent deal. price-wise, and the hassle you save is IMMEASURABLE. Let us know how it turns out, man. Should be shibby...

That's what I said. My dad was all ready to go at it, but spending that is totally worth the headache. He got super-mega frusterated doing my lower control arm. I can't imagine him on a tranny job!

hmmm kinda just sounds like the clutch needs to be bled.
My buddy's hydro clutch would go all the way to the floor before it had any resistance or sometimes would
let him shift at all.
Just woke up and no word on the car yet. I'm guessing something broke in the process and they are either scrambling to fix or trying to get a part or something. Wonder how late they are open? Guess Ill grab a snack and give em a call
Didnt get the car till Thursday; well, I can shift now but...
1. Clutch pedal vibrates really bad all the time with engine speed
2. They didnt re-attach my brake light sensor; brake lights stayed on constantly (I found and fixed)
3. They are pigs; inside and outside of my car have greasy hand and boot prints all over. Dash, doors, floormats, windows, etc
4. Noticed a huge amount of brake dust- particularly on the front brakes (you all know how often I clean the car...hmmmm)
5. They didnt re-attach my intake pipe properly and it was only half-on (fixed in my work parking lot)
6. Getting a metalic sound over bumps from the front of the car (just made an adjustment to the intake pipe- it may have been the intake filter slaping the fender. Will test in a bit)
7. ****Engine now leaking oil; oil is flung all over the belt/pully side of the engine, underneath all over the oil pan, and for the first time ever...it's dripping on the concrete**** Needless to say I am about to head back over to the shop to find out what the hell they did. Oh, and I dont blame you Jeff, but I was talking to a mechanic at work and he named 3 placed he would never take his car. Guess what one of them was?
This is just the stuff Ive found in about 15 minutes of looking and an hour of driving or so...needless to say Im a lil angry. Stay away from State Road Tranny and Clutch!!

Oh ok here I'll do it for ya... NICE JOB JEFF!!! This is all your fault
A good tranny place is hard to find. But damn these people sound like TRASH. Dirty car
brake dust (obviously joy riding) and if they started racing it around while it wasn't warmed
up the oil pressure will be 100+psi and could've blown a seal or gasket. That's why most
Cougar's have a little bit of oil outside by the crank pulley and pan area.
