is there a way i can take these off that is fairly easy , becuase i want to get a nice even coat when i paint them

well, when you take off the tire, you have to undo your parking brake, this is what is holding them on, but be careful to havee the car is park, or a gear, and block the tires good.
And use some damned good jack stands too... don't trust any car jack to hold your car in the air...

yeah i did. there is a little clip around one of studs and you have to pull it off and bang the front side of the drum and it will slide off with a little bit of pulling
