well went to the track last night , on my very first run. i lined up against another cougar in town......we were competing for cougar dominance in town.......got him off the light and of course had wheel hop like always, but this time is didn't feather out when i feathered the clutched it just kept on hopping, almost felt liek a blown strut banging around....so i didn't even make it on my launch to the 60 ft mark, i just costed down the track pulled over check thecar over very quick and then limped her back to the pit area...popped the hood and there she sat the tranny mount just floating on top, wheres it is supposed to be tight and secure , nope pulled it straight out with part of the bolt still sitting there. let me just say i am not happy and very mad at myself. it had broke before but not that bad i just removed the broken part of the bolt out and replaced the bolt. i think i am just going to purchase a new one from bat or ford. does anyone know the part number from ford for it, i checked CEG and here and didn't find and pn i did find this at bat

this is what i am needing from ford/bat

from BAT

Transmission Mounts 2.5L V6
Transmission mounts are showing signs of wear on higher mileage cars, or
hard use, causing uncontrolled drivetrain movement usually felt as increased
"torque steer". In more extreme cases CV joint or axle failure can occur.
Replacement is simple with these complete mount assemblies. See below
for manual transmission (early and late) and auto transmission listings.

Trans Mount 95-95 MT K433T $98.30
Trans Mount 97-01 MT K433TL $115.00 <------------------------------------
Trans Mount 95-01 AUTO K433TA $105.30

when i was checking ford this is what i found, i am assuming that this is the correct one but i dont have the pn to check it against?

MOUNT, Cougar, Rear, Manual Trans, To LH Fender Apron - 2.5L 99-02 $96.41

i am thinking i am probally just going todo what i did last time it broke, do a quick fix and get the car working since it is my only means of transportation. order a new mount from ford. Has anyone modded this mount so that dosen't happen again. If so hook a brotha up...... i have new svt front and rear roll resistors filled with 94a. so i will install those when i am doing the tranny mount, will thatt help that from happening again or will it promote it since that mount will now be the the only soft "ter" mount and all the vibrations will be transfered to that mount? Is there a way to make that mount a solid mount also, or would that be bad?

any suggestions need help

i will post pics of what the mount looks like

i had that happen to me, and i couldnt figure it out until i detailed my engine bay one day. a week or so earlier, i had always had a weird clunking sound. popped the hood and low and behold the top rubber part was just sitting there.

you do have the right part. i think just lots and lots of hard launching kills it. I replaced mine a while ago and it hasnt broken yet. i dont know how to make it stronger tho....

this not fun and spending over a hundred dollars on a new one just erks me since i know they might possible happen again

can i just drill out that old bolt and replace the bolt with a grade 8 bolt? and just use taht as a quick fix so i have a car to drive until the new mount comes in

Yes, you can drill out the bolt and replace it.

You may have to pull your transmission into alignment to get it to sit properly over the bottom mounting plate (the one on the tranny)

To prevent this from happening, install stiffer/stronger tranny mounts/bushings. The problem is that the softer mounts (or in my case a broken stab-o-shock) lets it shift too much, and the force sheers the bolt in half. It's not even as strong as a grade 8 bolt. But get a grade 8 and you should be OK. I'm going to replace mine today, actually. ;)

not one but 2 mounts busted....

have you ever seen a motormount sheer in half ....another reason to get ahold of pole120 on ceg to get one of his filled mounts if you dont want to do it yourself

this is what its supposed to look like

now u have

luckily on my little spending spree i ordered the front and rear svt mounts and order 94a so i could fill them. i am glad i did fill them last week and have just been lagging on installing them. today after work i drove to the mercury dealership in my buddies spare car and picked up a new tranny mount from them, 125 later and we have a running car with all 3 mounts replaces, new tranny mount, front and rear svt filled mounts

That's the roll resistor. It prevents the motor from rolling (obviously).

Looks like the roll resistor went and when that happened, the mount went. I would replace both and either get the ES inserts for the roll resistor or fill it with urethane.

I think your replaced mount will be fine once you get the roll resistor replaced and filled/inserted.

I know I read that.

That was for others that might end up in your situation.

How much wheel hopping did you do to bust a mount and roll resistor? Do you wheel hop the car a lot?

ahhh gotcha...sorry about that how u said it was for me to do it. i was at the track and was trying to launch it . i wasn't shooting for wheel hop or anything i was actuallly trying to launch it at like 2500-3k rpm

When you replace the bolt in the upper tranny mount do yourself a favor-
First off, it's an M12 metric bolt, 1.25 thread pitch (IIRC).
Secondly, unbolt the lower mount from the top of the tranny FIRST before you start putting this together.
Slip the bolt through the hole, use one of the nuts from the lower tranny mount to keep it from falling out, and put the lower tranny mount back in place. Take the nut off, and feed the bolt into the upper mount. Tighten the upper mount with the bolt until the bolt is lifting the lower tranny mount about 2-3mm off of the tranny. Then tighten down the nuts on the lower tranny mount (cross-tighten pattern). This will "lift" the tranny up to meet the plate, so that there is downward tension on the bolt you just installed into the mount. It'll help keep it from backing out (along with some loctite) and help put the tranny in the right position.

great info.. maybe we should make a sticky on the roll resistors and tranny mounts so we don't have to go seareching everywhere. i think i could probally scan the shop manuals and post them
