I bought A subframe at the local junk yard for my manual swap. I told them It was for a 2.5. But after I got home with the part i noticed the receit said for a 2.0. My question is, do they interchange? I am assuming they don't. But just in case(especially since it was a good price) Does the subframe for the 2.0 MTX match the 2.5 subframe?

definitely not, the 2.0 has different motor mount places

This is what the bottom of my MTX subframe looks like, notice the triangular piece down at the bottom, that is the one that is different from the MTX subframe... I'm not sure how much the 2.0 subframe varies from that, but take a look at how well yours matches up to this picture...

BTW that is a view of the bottom of the subframe, not the top

actually it looks just like that, can you measure the distance from the left or right edge to the nearest hole on the mounts. Maybe it's just the mounts that are different and not the mounting points themselves.

From the perspective of the picture I posted before... the center of the hole on the bottom left of the triangle is about 3/4" from the edge, and then it is about 3.75 " from the center of that hole to the one on the far right.

A good way to see if there are really two different Subframes for the 4 Cyl or 6 Cyl subframes would be to compare the part numbers on FordPartsOnline or another one of the sites like that ;)

I just searched fordpartsonline, and it looks as though they only make specifice crossmembers for atx and mtx. I sent them an e-mail to conferm this. If this is true, thats a pretty good peice of info for someone doing a tranny swap, and is getting their crossmember from a junk yard. It will make me happy as pie too!
