I posted this originally in "Garage Talk" I think, but now I can't find it, so I thought I would try here too. :) Whenever I am driving my cougar a popping noise comes from the front wheels. Is that my suspension? It's not too loud, but still annoying and concerning. I have some coil overs that I want to put on my car, but I don't want to do those if I need to fix something else first. Please help! :)

Could be the ball joint or the bushings on the control arm. Check that lower control arm assembly for play, if it is it (should be) then get your parts from www.batinc.net, they have the cheapest parts that I know of.

does it only make the noise when you hit a bump? if thats the case, its your upper strut mounts or a broken motor mount, pop the hood and see if there is a gap where the upper mount is on your strut(it'll be suspended up enough to fit a quarter under if its broken, if thats not it, check all the motor mounts, i at one point busted mine and my motor would bounce of my tranny causing the popping noise
