Alrighty riddle me this. Does the PCM have a learning curve? Reason I ask is looooong time ago precats and resonator were removed. Throws a light for it. Ok, expecting this after all. Week later no more cel. Hmm? I did nothing at all to correct this. Now maf light throws last week. I go to order a new one and same thing? Darn thing runs like a champ, no power loss anywhere. I'm not worried about the engine. I'm gonna rip her out in the fall for my project. Thing I'm worried about when it comes to sct tuning, will it learn and adapt to factory settings? I don't know anyone at this point who has an sct on our cars. I have not purchased the sct package yet. Still kinda boggles my mind a little.

The "adaptive learning curve" you're talking about is mainly short term fuel trims (STFT) and long term fuel trims (LTFT). The PCM monitors the average AFR's through the up stream O2 sensor and compares it to the programed data tables.....and if there is a difference (up to 35% before it throws a code) it will attempt to match the data table by altering the fuel injector duty cycle. This correction data is stored in the "short term fuel trim" data table.

The PCM is constantly attempting to bring the STFT back to zero %......so if the STFT remains at corrective trim for a length of time, the PCM places that correction value in the long term fuel trim (LTFT) data table...........and the STFT returns to 0%. Keep in mind, this is only occuring while the PCM is operating in closed loop.

The SCT chip replaces the factory chips (all four banks I believe) and is fully programable.....including the STFT and LTFT data tables. That's what makes SCT much better than a piggyback type fuel controller. You can actually change the data tables instead of just altering the output from the PCM.

Hey, good luck on your project............
