Right.....as far as the seats go......
The front seats come in three parts......the base, the back and the headrest. The headrest obviously just pulls off and you can put this to one side. The rest of the seat comes out by removing the 6 retaining bolts that bolt it to the chassis of the car. Once out, you will need to remove all the plastic trimming before you start any work on the seat. I will talk you through the removal of the leather one part at a time!! lol!!!
The Back.
Unzip the back of the seat so that the flap falls down. The seat is mainly held in with velcro and small (about 1cm) pieces of metal that are bent over and hold the seat in place. Along each of the joins runs a piece of string and the same is on the foam. These metal rings are fed through the two bits of string and bent over to hold the leather to the foam. To take the foam off, you will need to prise these apart to release the bits of string so that the leather comes off. There are loads of these so be patient with it!!! There are also 3 velcro strips that run down each side next to the side bolsters and down the middle of the seat. These will just come apart by pulling on them! Next, you will need to work on the back release clip (the black bit that you pull to move the back of the seat forwards to allow access to the backseats. To get round this, you will have to pull the leather one way and feed it over the circular outer disc. Once you have a bit of it over, then just feed the rest round so the leather is over the disc instead of under it. You will need to do the same to the headrest clips. All along the way, remember to remove the metal clips as the leather will not come free unless you do this. Once the leather is off then replace the foam....I haven't done this bit yet so i'm not totally sure how this is done but I can't see it being a problem! To replace the leather you have 2 options:
1 - Either try and replace all the metal clips (this could be hard to do unless you have the professional tool)
2 - Use some industry strength fabric and upholstry glue. This is what I used, making sure I used plenty of it, especially in the grooves between the different parts of the foam. ie: the side bolsters and the back parts.
Be warned though, it may take several attempts to get the seat cover in the right place. If it is even slightly out then the back will not zip up properly! Just be patient with and take your time!!
The Base.
The first thing to do with the base is to flip the seat over so that you are looking at the mechanics of the seat. The leather on the base of the seat is essentially one long piece of leather with two wings that cover the sides. Try to imagine it as the seat being the middle of the leather and then it folds across the front and through the back and meets in the middle under the seat. There are two plastic runners that link together to hold the leather in place. You will need to unscrew/unbolt some of the mechanics in order to free the leather and this will be obvious when you see it. Once this is done, unslide the two plastic runners and pull the leather away from the middle so that it all folds up towards the top of the seat. There are also metal clips here that you will have to deal with. Once you have the leather away from the bottom of the seat, it is similar to the back of the seat in that it is held down with velcro and metal clips down the joins in the foam....three in total. Undo these and the leather on the base will come off. To replace this, just follow the two options above for the actual seat part of the base. Underneath, you will be able to slide the two plastic runners back together and then the side wings will have to be secured back in place either with the metal clips or cable ties!!! I know it sounds like a bodge but you won't see them and they are probably more secure than the metal clips!! Once the leather is back on then replace the plastic trimming and re-fix the seat in the car with the headrest and hopefully voila you will have a newly foamed seat that you won't fall out of!!!
