Hello i own a 2000 Mercury cougar and am currently getting my transmission rebuilt im getting a quaife LSD installed and i was wondering what i needed to let the mechanic know if anything about this piece. I heard something about preload but was wondering exactly what that meant. I know i need selective shims but that is something he can get alot easier than i can. If anyone has any imput i would appreciate it. i think i have everything i will need to get this done down to the zetec speedo gear.
Thanks

You should not have to supply anything if it is a good shop they should be able to get the shims they need from ford I believe. You might buy some redline trans fluid along with ford friction modifier though and have them refill with that.

If I can do it without any prior experience, they won't have any problems.
Why didn't you go with a Torsen? Just wondering.

Redline MTL had the friction modifiers in it already...
and yes...if the shop has any bit of skill, they'll be able to do it and do it right...if they can't, go somewhere else.

Well the reason i had to buy the parts is because my mechanic is a freind of the family my uncle worked with him at cottman transmission and said he was the best. Everything i have told him he has has known what i was talking about i just want to make sure my 550$ Diff doesnt get ruined. Why i didnt go with torsen well when i bought this thing 2 years ago it did not exhist. Anyways thanks for the imput
