Well, I've been debating this for the past couple of days and have come to a conclusion. After much debate, I've decided not to attend Cougarfest this year. I had a great time the last 2 years, but for me it would be the third year in a row going to the same place (HCKC 2003, CF2K4).

Allthough that's not my main reason for not going, there is a better reason. As many of you know my dad has his vette. Over the last 2 years he has hardly driven it at all due to the headers rusting out and pin holes like mad all the way through. They are hooker chrome headers with side exits....3.5/4'' tips :).

Basically my dad was going to buy headers this summer and saved up the $$, then on Sunday night we pulled the car out only to see the brake light on and ALL of the tranny fluid on the floor. So needless to say, the headers are not the priority now, but it's again being put off.

Well, I figure with the money I save from not attending fest in addition to what I was planning to spend on his gift.....I can afford to buy my dad headers for his birthday. And to me, that's more important.

I look forward to seeing you all at Hamillfest this year.....and Matt, don't worry, we'll still get your grills to you before/at fest :)

thanks, and Sorry guys,

Dan

looks like i'm in the same boat as you dan...sometimes other unexpected priorities come up...on the bright side, at least you won't smash your car this year on the way down to indy :)

Sucks to hear that you won't be attending fest...sucks even more hearing about your dad's vette. So many other things higher in priority than driving all the way down there to Indiana and though I would like to, I as well can't this year because of college classes during the summer months and working part-time so I don't go flat broke. I was really hoping to attend fest this year and it would have been my first...but I guess maybe next year.

About the vette, what year is it? I think I remember you mentioning something about it in a thread a while ago but I can't remember the year. My dad has a '72 Stingray with the headers and exhaust all done as well. He got it all done at Hot Rod Scott's in Toronto, you should check them out if you haven't already for the gift. I can't remember if my dad got Hedman or Hooker headers, but I'm sure they probably carry both.

Hamillfest

it's a 1972 Stingray with a 454...

needs Hooker headers, side exit, 454 chrome headers and side pipes.

Last year I priced them out and they were allmost $1000. Do you have a number of the place you mentioned?

I wouldn't mind shopping prices. I was going to call Beaky's corvette to see if they had some and what the prices were. I know Barry at Performance Unlimited here in town gave me a decent price when I was looking for my dad last year.

Here's the car...

I love those old Stingrays, at least the bodies don't rust!

Well am I the only one going to fest this year? :(

Ajay, Your coming! Rich guy like you living the big life in a condo on the waterfront!

no rust....just never get an oil underguard....one guy found out the hard way when the fiberglass absorbed the oil and the whole car had to be rebuilt.

and you can see in the first pic on the bottomn header where the source of all the problems are.

yeah....it moves.....especially for an Auto :)

engine is mapped and blue printed, holly carb, hooker headers, tranny has a few mods and so does the rear end.....other than that....stock and original....the 8-track is still working on the stock speakers, but didn't come with the car. He bought it in 1973.

Yeah, gotta keep them classics original. My dad's is completely original except for the work he had done at Hot Rod Scott's. He got Flowmaster duals and Hedman headers done there just about a year ago and she sounds great! He hopes to one day lift the engine and completely restore it with paint, covers and all that jazz to get her looking purdy...the car and the engine are still in great shape though.

OK, this is getting depressing. Most of the usuals that have attended every year are NOT going this year. It'll be mainly newbies.

List of people not going so far;
Hamill
Puckpuck
Mike
Shadowcat
Zman
Ajay
Carl

Every other minute someone else is dropping out....

Well, I found them and have ordered them....total price $1495 shipped to my door. My Mechanic is doing the brakes on it next week and is going to tell my dad that he wants to take a look at one of the valve seals the following week and to bring the car in the night before to take a look at it....the following morning he'll be doing the headers and my dad will be shocked when he comes in and see's the new headers.

...at least I hope he's shocked :)

any donations anyone wants to make to my mastercard to fund this puppy....feel free to pm me for my paypal address lol

now I have 41 days to pay off my mastercard. Hence why I decided not to go to Fest. I have about 2G on my Mastercard now and want it paid off before mid August. I'm going to take a hard look around the house this week and see what I can sell.

I have a tonne of stock crap....might have a polished UIM coming up soon for sale to....non SVT though
