That sucks, I hope they didn't charge you for the wheel balance!

The same thing happened to me one time. They told me they dont know why it happened, that they jack cars up on the control arm all the time.

Maybe on the pivot point, not in the middle of the control arm!

Those things look sturdy when you're under the back bumper, looking at them. You don't realize that they are basically like a blade until you get the jack under one. The rear control arms on my Saturn are just like that, only they have a square cross-section, and are hollow. You could jack up 3 cars on one of those.

That's one of the first things I broke after I got my Cougar. Well, at least they are cheap and relatively easy to replace.

Did you make the shop pay for the necessary alignment after installing the new control arm?

I can't get them to do anything about it. Basically when I went in I had to sign a damage waiver because my car can't go on their lifts. It was not until I left that I noticed the damage (after driving down the street), thus I can't REALLY prove to them that they did this (although it was sure as hell noticable to me).

Haven't even gotten a new alignment yet either... trying to wait to put on my new rear subframe.. which I'm waiting on a new rear sway bar for...

The worst part is that I had JUST gotten a new alignment the week before while I was in FL on vacation because of a thing that happened there....

I bent one of mine god knows how, but my friend just banged it straight with a hammer.

Keep all your reciepts, call the manager. If you get nowhere with him, then get a district managers number, and keep working your way up to the top. You WILL get your money back, I assure you.

I been there, it's a b!tch. Luckily my shop agreed to replace it stating that when I got hit in the side, it pushed my car over and bent the control arm. The other insurance company paid for it :stupid:

Good luck with that. Alot of shops don't realize how unsturdy our control arms are. If they for some reason don't have a lift, I find myself telling them to be sure not to jack up on the control arm.
