I’ve posted (in CougarFest) an invitation to join me in driving the Tail of the Dragon (http://www.tailofthedragon.com/index.html), a famous (infamous?) Smoky Mountain road loved by driving enthusiasts.

Take a look (http://www.fastcougar.com/forums/messageview.cfm?catid=18&threadid=123294)

Yes, it's way out of the way.... but it's lots of fun, especially 'cause we don't have any twisty, windy, mountain roads in FL.

yeah and i bet the windy roads of florida are like that to veer around the giant pot holes.
Man I have a bad feeling about that road after seeing that one picture on that site. I foresee alot of dead kittens on that mountain.

it looks like a blast to me... wish i still had my kitty to take it there.

there's only so many places to really try to test the cougar on tight bends in Florida (espically in Pensacola), like the I-10W to I-110 loop... that's REALLY fun at 65mph :D

Well, don't try to reach the limits on the first (or if you're me, first or second) run... take some time to learn the road and you'll be fine. Also, make sure your car's in good shape (brakes, tires esp.)

FL just doesn't have roads with hairpins -- and this has several!

the RX8 club went last year and is going again this year. i didnt go and probably wont again this year, but James (batcougar) is heading this years trip. he said last year was AWESOME!

i want to get up there some day..cant decide if i want to go in the 8 or on the bike though....decisions decisions! maybe i'll have to find a way to pull the bike behind the car!

It's called a trailer!!

A neighbor takes 2 bikes up most every summer. He says he actually likes Rt 28 from Fontana to Franklin better than 129, but I'm putting 129 first on my list again this year. (Last year we did 129 & the Cherahola Skyway (or however it's spelled!)
