Need Flex Pipe

These cougars are starting to kill me. Took both cars in for an alignment on friday, and found I need to replace both front lower control arms on the red one. Also I just noticed my flex pipe is damaged. I'm trying to track a used one down, as I don't want to spend the money on an upgraded y-pipe, because I think this cougar will be have to go bye-bye in the next year. Two cougars are just too much. Does anybody have one left over from a y-pipe upgrade or does anyone know of a cougar sitting at junkyard in the Columbus area that might have a good flex pipe.

I tell you, Dan - the junkyard may not be your friend on this one. Every car I see in the yard has the cat hacked off with a sawzall, with little regard for the rest of the exhaust system. So chances are, any JY Y-pipe will be un-usable.

Perhaps a generic one from JC Whitney, welded in, will be your best bet.

OH! As far as the control arms go, you might be able to junkyard those pretty easily. The Groveport Pick-N-Pull always has tons of Contours, although they never have Cougars. But I have replaced a few suspension parts on my Cougar with junkyard Contour parts.

Yeah, I was just thinking maybe I could pick up a universal flex pipe somewhere, but I haven't looked to see if anybody had one that would work. Control arms are only $65 a piece from the dealer. Since the bushings on mine are already shot after 60k, I don't really want to go used on those.

Everytime i go to pick-n-pull (that just sounds weird now), they never had a 5 speed 2.5 contour/mystique w/ an intact cruise cable. I really miss my cruise! Andy.. think if you find one you could grab it for me and i'll pay you for your troubles?

Definitely. I'll probably be back there in about 2 weeks. Weekends are the only time I can go, and this weekend I'll be in Sandusky. But I'll make it over there the week after, and hope to find one.

In fact, keep this to Ohio, but if anybody has a request for a likely junkyard part I can get from a Contour, let me know. I'm at Pick-N-Pull about every 2 weeks. There are NEVER any Cougars there, but there are tons of Contours and Mistakes... er, Mystiques. And the parts are STUPID CHEAP.

If anyone is interested in parts I know that last time I went down to deer creek auto (614)221-5698 they had 3 or 4 cougars one was a 5spd you might try giving them a call .
