im about to fill the 3L with jb weld. is there any procedure involved or i just take alot and smash it in there, put tape over the hole, turn the engine upside down and let her sit!?

i lined the edges of the hole with jbweld, and filled it in with quicksteel by mashing it in at the edges, working my way to the center.
why jbweld and quicksteel? beats me - thats how cougargt told me to do it :)
you could probably do the whole process with the engine upside down...

thats how i did it... once i mixed it, i let used my fingers (clean fingers) to putty it in the holes, then used masking tape to seal the hole and flipped it upside-down... after a few days it was dry and flat.

but that was in the winter in a non-heated garage... i dont know if jb is runnier than it was when i used it, but i'm sure if you let the mix sit for a few minutes before using it it will firm up a little.... or you caould throw the unmixed portions in the freezer for a little while, then it will warm up and re-liquify while its setteling on the tape in the upside-down engine...

either way, its easy to do once you start working with the stuff and get a feel for how it sticks, etc...

BTW: the oil feed hole i did differently, firts i took a small portion of jb and shoved it about 1"down the hole, then i tapped out the hole(i forgot what sized tap i used). then took a bolt of the same size and thread and cut it to about 1/4" length, and put a slot in the top to screw it in with... a little red loctite on the threads and thats it...

you put the jb in the hole first so you dont get the shavings from the tap in the engine... i couldn't imagine what might happen should a nice chunk get squeezed between bearing surfaces... not a pretty picture....

There's a better pic of this out there, I just can't find it.

This is a pic of my block, after I had the oil return holes filled with aluminum. Fill the supply hole on the opposite bank accordingly. The oil supply line at the front of the block (marked) also needs to be plugged, but I wouldn't do it with JBWeld! I had all three holes filled with aluminum and the block re-surfaced on SVT Pete's hybrid, only way to go IMO...

Don't forget to drill a second supply hole in the 3L Bank 1 head gasket to provide adequate oil supply to the rear 2.5L head (since the Bank 1 2.5L head has no front supply line):

uh oh... :( ;)

Better look at that How To again, eh Lee?

For the oil feed, I tapped it upside down with some vaseline on the tap to pickup the shavings, then put the set screw in with loc-tite. For the oil feed, it was a little bit like a rotisserie chicken... but later, upside down with some packing tape, and a screw driver handle resting against it to make sure it would cure indented, and not stick up above the level of the head mating surface did the trick.
