No idea what this was...
Was heading down this small street which leads to a main highway, when in front of me turns some old Chev. Not sure what kind. Had "SS" centered in the middle of the back. The back of the car was very high up, and the rear edge facing me was quite narrow, with small horizontal, rectangular lights. Kind of an angular back end. I would guess late 60's or 70's, but not too up on my old muscle, so not sure.
Anyway, HUGE rubber on the back, all rear suspension and exhaust visible from behind (since the rear end was so high). LOTS of noise... looked like a serious contender! This guy was lining up to go west, but even though I had to go east, I followed him just for the run! I follow him onto this downhill ramp onto the highway, and he guns it. I get on it too, and stick to him down the ramp. I back off for the merge (because it's very short), and once we merge in, he gets on it! This guy's LOUD! Anyway, I punch it too, and come up on him and pass him pretty quick, of course laughing as I do. Anyway... up ahead, I back off, and slow it down to see if he'll catch up. He catches up, and then punches it beside me. Same result... left him pretty quickly.
Crappy story, because I have no real idea what kind of car it was, or what it had done... Kinda sad in a way. Kinda thought for all the noise and huge tires and stuff, the guy woulda had a little more... Ah well! My bro's really into old cars and stuff. Me, I'm much more a fan of new technology. Nice to hand it to the new! ;)

I keep thinking chevelle... most popular of all old muscle cars
Nova possibly? i dunno
Either way, nice kill! Me and my friend took down an old chevelle in his 325i auto.. this thing ran dead even w/ my car stock vs. stock until like 70 he pulled a bit, maybe front door to my nose. They're not very well on highway.. he lit em up.. def. would have killed it off the line.

i would say nova or poss a camaro but still those things can move if u get on them right so i don't know
Old cars are always intimidating when they are loud. My buddy has a 66 skylark and that thing roars but i smoke him everytime we race. Nice kill btw.

Weird eh? They're seriously loud, but many are not that fast! Reminds me of those vids floating around of SL55 AMG (or SL65 AMG's) smoking fully built rides at the dragstrip! With the AC on!

nice kill....from your description it sounds like it was a nova....the camaro's rear ends didn't really stick up all that much....but the rectangular tail lights leads me to believe it was a nova....the chevelles had circular tail lights....
sounds like that guy had himself a project car and he hadn't gotten to the motor just yet...because there is no way anyone could hang hang with...let alone beat one of those machines if they have the motor restored....
good kill though...sounds like it was fun.

Yeah... I think it was a Nova. I took a look at pics on Google Images, and the Nova looks closest. You're right though.. if he had the motor fully built, it probably wouldn't have ended the same way. Would've been cool to get the details on his car, but alas, that's not the way in works in my parts!

Beating hopped up rice with my 69 Fairlane Cobra 428 CJ is also fun. Then I have to go out and refinance my house to fill the tank up with gas again.

This man is my new best friend!Yes, it does have a C6 in it. My first choice was a 4-spd but when I found this Cobra, I couldn't pass it up. Now I kind of like the C6 except when the trans is cold and the shift from first to second tries to put me in the back seat. Are you a member of the Fairlane Club?

Kinda sorta. I go to shows and such, but don't pay the club fees and such. I am on Woody's Fairlane, (and for all you guys who never think I actually have the thing)

Then go to 64-65, I am under "Andy S".
