What is the size of the escape motor fuel injectors? I put on the sheet they were 24# at least that's what I assumed was right, but I'm starting to wonder, I got the chip back after a second round and the car starts, but it floods itself out. Just wondering if I should have put a 19 instead.

3 liters have 24 pounders...svt 2.5's came with 19's
at least thats what i always thought.

ok, cool. For some reason i'm still running rich. That's what we thought is was, but since the first time it didn't start, it just cranked, then they altered the chip and now it's running to rich.

What MAFS are you using?

I'm using the stock MAF.

Thats why... stock maf is calibrated to 17# injectors... so by putting in 19's or 24's through the stock 17 calibrated maf, it will put ALOT more fuel than it knows what to do with. Get a pro-m calibrated maf or mafterburner -- that should fix the problem.

but if he's using a 3.0L engine, aren't the 19#'s the way to go (if you're not tuned yet)?
reason being that 19#'s will add 11-12% - despite 20% higher engine capacity (eg: still run lean but less lean than using 17#s). 24#s are too much for an untuned engine, since they add 40% more fuel than the 17#'s - running way rich on a 3L.
i just wanna know, since i was planning on using the 19#s on my 3L too.

He's tuned- he's got a chip.

I have a Pro-Flow 75mm Polished MAF calibrated for 19# injectors for sale ... $160 shipped ... brand new, never used ... comes with calibration sheet. PM me if you are interested.

WHOA,
Correct me if I'm wrong but the MAF is not calibrated from the factory for any size injectors. It just measures the incoming air.
Pro-m MAFs use MAF trickery to make the computer think it's getting more air, hence more fuel will be added, to a point.
Since he has a chip that would compensate for the injector sizing. The three liter comes with 24's, Ford obviously figured out that is the right size for the engine. The stock computer thinks it has 17's, the chip however would tune for the 24's.
Look to other reasons why it's running rich. Do you have the turbo kit, or just the chip?

1. Absolutely and positively correct.
2. Correct. With the exception for Pro-M MAF's tuned to be direct replacements. Like the Pro-M 19lb MAF for the 2.5L Duratec. It is just a straight calibration.
A Pro-M 19lb MAF WILL NOT let you run 19lb injectors if your car did not have them to begin with. It is Pro-M's base calibration.
3. No. Ford likely just used them because they are cheaper in bulk. ;) (Most other current Ford engines use the 24lb injector)
A 19lb injector will support 225-240 FWHP safely. (MTX rating / ATX would be lower) The stock 3L makes ~200 CRANK. (~168 wheels in an MTX)
4. A over the counter tune is NOT going to consider pulse width for idle and normal driving.

No turbo or anything. I'm basically a stock 3.0. It sucks man. I've had the motor in now for a couple of months and the chip is the only thing holding me back.
What about getting a cold air induction? I know that would increase the air flow, but would that be enough.
