Hi Guys,

Started building my 3L and ran upon this problem when installing the updated windage tray.

Seems as though the newer version of the tray does not have a critical hole that the old tray has.

What should I do? Seems that the options are:

1) to use the old tray
2) to drill a hole in the new tray. this also requires the hole next to it to be enlarged for a proper fit.
3) order a slightly older tray, but still newer than my current one... (yeah, reread it and makes sense).

I am using the newest baffled oil pan available.

Thanks.

Dontask.

I drilled a hole in mine and put a new stud in that spot because my windage tray was all beat to [censored] from the engine blowing up. You need the new stud in there so you have something to screw the pickup tube down to. Worked for me anyway.

I'm using the new pan and it is very well made: new bolts, integrated gasket, and holds a full 6 quarts. I have tested it's circulation several time by having someone monitor my oil pressur gauge while making hard turns and it never drops= good piece of mind.

New YL8Z windage tray means new YL8Z oil pickup and new main studs.

All old news and well talked about...
