I am not too familiar with Albany, but I am down for any place to meet up. I just figured Xgates would be the easiest place for everyone to find and meet up as a group, but if we are going somewhere else, we will still need directions in case anyone is running behind or something. But, we can meet wherever may be best for everyone, I was just throwing something out into the air.

I'll offer up my house, as long as you'll excuse the construction - got a big backyard, and a grill, I should still have a functioning bathroom by then, and I'm 6 blocks from 890, but everyone would have to park on the street with the orange modded integra. And I've got cats, so if it rains, anyone who's allergic will have to sit on the front porch.

What's everyone interested in doing? There's a few drive ins (burgers and fries) - LKens, Jumping Jacks, Guptil's. We don't have a D&B...only Jillian's. And they got rid of the racing ride place at the mall.

Lets atleast all agree that:

Where: Xgates Cinema 18 parking lot is where we are meeting
When: 8-9am (for RedBarons sake; lest he propose another time) is when we are meeting
What: Thats next...

I still like the idea of a mod meet-n-greet, in which case we'll need an area to work and so on...
I'd love to offer up my house, but unfortunately I live with my OCD mother and having 10 strangers over "messing" up the garage wouldn't be pretty... she flipped out when she saw me melting plastic in the oven for my Angel Eyes and told me to buy a warehouse to house my production line... good grief

That sounds good to me.....not sure if I'll bring the cougar......that might be the weekend when its in the shop getting some work done. but if its done, I'm taking it for a ride.

8am-9am is a good meet time.....I'll be leaving my house around 6 am then. It's cool. I cant wait to get together with some empire folks! Its been way to long for me!

exit 6, take a left away from the ghetto. I'm right around where altamont and chrisler cross - if you're at home depot at the corner of watt st? and 7, just go across 890 and keep going about a mile. 2 blocks towards 890 from chrisler, practically on michigan ave, between michigan and altamont.

you check out the mobil station by walmart on altamont ave? since the citgo went in, they're having a price war for cheapo gas, was $2.17 the other day! (as opposed to the $2.35 or whatever they charge at mobil at the corner of central/5 and new karner/155. something just ain't right there.)

where at penney's? upper level or lower level?

for those of you from out of town, take the thruway to exit 24 (the exit will say 90 east, 87 north, maybe "Adirondack Northway"), go through the toll booths as far right as possible (there's usually about 10 open for getting off), and take the exit to the right immediately after the toll booths (tolls, tandem trailer lot, exit), think the sign says crossgates mall road? stay on the exit ramp and it becomes the exit ramp to crossgates, you'll be facing penney's, take a left to go to the upper level, take a right to go to the lower level.

edit: east/west, north/south, left/right...it's all the same ain't it?

btw, 90 is under MAJOR construction from the thruway west to 787. chewed up pavement and lane movements, etc. so plan on avoiding it at all costs, whatever we end up doing.

JC Pennys sounds good to me. We always met right by where you enter the mall parking lot off of the exit there. It's right at that traffic light. I am guessing that would be the upper lot? Either way, that sounds good to me. I will do my best to get there. We just need a meeting time.

I'm always up for Pump Station! (http://www.evansale.com) I haven't had their calamari in forever :drool; but then there's no point in meeting at crossgates. Jillian's is close by Pump Station, can head over there to hang out and play games or whatnot.

I am still up for the meet... though I might show up a little later. I really don't feel like leaving my house at like 6-7AM on my only day off, lol... I guess we will see. There has to be something better to do.

I think we may need to rethink this time a little bit. I mean, what's going to be open at 8 or 9 in the morning? I certainly am not drinking before noon, haha. I doubt the mall would even be open at that time. Most malls nears me don't open till around 10.

I am definately still planning on going though, so still count me in. I am trying to get Cue to come up with me. Also, did anyone try giving Tony a call to see if he would be interested since I know he's right there basically? I just know he hardly ever comes on fastcougar anymore.

by the time my car gets there on the 22nd, absolutly nothing will be done to it, haha. Topshop ain't sending me the parts I want, I can't afford to get my stuff painted yet, and my center console is sitting at someone's shop collecting dust. Maybe I'll wash and wax or something.

What time you want to meet? You're the one who wanted it on the early side (though I don't think you were thinking 8 or 9 am, unless you want to do brunch at tgi's...).

Pat: Crossgates doesn't open until 11 on Sundays. The doors are open though, for the mall walkers. You want to go shopping?

I just said the earlier the better.....I have the longest drive home, I think, so I just dont want to drive almost 3 hours just to turn around and drive home after hanging with you guys for 2-3 hours, know what I mean??

8-9am is a bit on the early side but if you want to start modding stuff and be done before lunchtime then I think thats a good time to start. If we are simply getting together just to kick it and have some lunch, play some games, maybe take in a movie (dont know what'll be playing at the time, but thats a possiblity too) I dont know what all there is to do up there. It's really not my turf. But I'm down for whatever's gonna get the most people there. If people want to come later, I say do that. But for the people who want to meet early and maybe do some small mods n stuff, I'll show up just to hang, represent and keep you company.

Do we need to take a vote or something?? :biggrin:

I'm up for meeting around 8 or 9am. I only have to drive an hour give or take a few. I might have two things for installation if anyone is interested. I'm buying a capacitor I'll need to install and an intake (short-ram). So if anyone is up for that or they can give me some help that would be great! Let me know in case I have to bring tools or whatever. Thanks.

I dunno if I'll have anything to mod with per-se when the meet comes b.c all my stuff is electrical at this point... But i agree... theres nothing open that early and since im 10 minutes from the mall ill prolly meet up later... i guess the question is what do we do?

Personally I'd rather not spend $9.75 @ the movies b/c thats just rediculous considering my bedroom has a better sound system and I can pause for bathroom breaks... Anything really that involves money im adversed to b.c I have none ;)

Pat says to take a right at the light (you'll actually not go to the light, you'll have your own right turn lane and then your own lane on Crossgates mall road)...so after you turn right, take a left as soon as you can (before the next light) and look for other cougars

actually i also want help cleaning my UIM and LIM... if anyone knows how todo that and WANTS to help me id seriously apprecite it... ill need a dremel too caus one of the screws on my duratec cover WILL NOT come offf, so well have to cut a slit in it and use a straight driver and try to get it out

Okay, I will meet up I guess around 10ish. I think that would be an okay time for me. I am not concerned about the mall not being open or anything, but usually malls don't care for loiterers much. I am fine meeting there and everything, but once we start bunching up before the mall opens and have our cars taken apart in the parking lot, that's when they may come and tell us we can't be there. I am all for meeting up there, but I don't think that's the best place to mod cars. Of course, I won't be modding mine, so that's to the modders own discretion.

Is a movie at Crossgates REALLY $9.75??? I don't pay that much for a nice Lowes with stadium seating near me... it's like a buck cheaper. I hear you on the $$$ though. I will not be spending much, which is why my car isn't really doing anything new at the moment. I have some stuff ready to go, but I have to get some painting done first.

I don't know, just someone make the final plans and I will go according to those, otherwise we are going to be BSing all over the place until the day of the meet, and nobody will end up showing up, lol.

Crossgates can be seen right from the Thruway... you can't miss it. However, the exit is north of crossgates I believe, even for the southbound traffic, so depending on which way you come, I guess you can miss it, lol. Does anyone in that area actually know what exit it is off of the thruway? That may help some people a little.

exit 24. It will say I-90 East (oops...my bad above) and I-87 North (aka The Adirondack Northway).

I just did the bulk of my modding today which was ALOT of electrical work, most of which will be finished this weekend, so really it's up to whomever if they wanna help me clean my engine up a bit.

Yes movies are that rediculously priced and I refuse to pay for it. Besides, I've already seen Episode III there so theres nothing better than that to see anytime soon...

But I agree... lets stop bull$hitting and figure out our plans... we could always have a cookout and just chill somewhere... I believe carajo offered her place up, but we have to be nice to her cats... Heading West on I-90 from Boston:
Take last exit b4 getting to the tolls marked "Western Avenue", then stay right and proceed onto the CrossGates Mall Road exit ramp on the right. Make a right at the light, JC parking lot is on the left.

Heading East on I-90 from Buffalo/Rochester/Syracuse:
Take exit 24 (ramp is on the left of the Thruway), stay to the far right comming out of the tolls and head towards "Western Avenue". Stay right and proceed onto the CrossGates Mall Road exit ramp on the Right. Make a right at the light, JC parking lot is on the left.

Heading North on 87 from NYC/Harriman:
Take exit 24, stay to the far right comming out of the tolls and head towards "Western Avenue". Stay right and proceed onto the CrossGates Mall Road exit ramp on the Right. Make a right at the light, JC parking lot is on the left.

Heading South on 87 from Saratoga:

What Id really like todo and its a bit unrealistic caus of dry time, is to get my headlights open and paint them SOBs

I wanna paint everything white ( i have white car ) cept the eyelids and the sidemarker, which I'd like to be a nice red...
Sound like a good paint scheme? Anyways... I wouldn't be able to drive it for a good while do to dry time, but maybe someone local wants to come over for some beers and headlight opening one weekend... aside from painting i need to get that cacuun and dead spider out of there (HOWD THEY GET IN THERE?!?!)...

Too bad we're not meeting closer to Utica. I live about 3 miles from the Thruway exit (31) 1hr 10min from Albany. I have a patio that fits about 20 people or so with a built in BBQ and no 1 would have to park on the street, plus my garage is empty for modding. However, for now, I guess this doesn't help since we agreed on Albany (which is fine with me) and also everyone would have to drive the distance. BUT, maybe it will be something to consider for a future meet later this summer.

Heres the plan for the meeting... well all meet and crossgates and then discuss what we want todo all day, then come back on the forums and be like "oh we shoulda done this, we coulda done that" all hind-sightish

Yeah sure we could that. Also, I'm shopping around for some speakers right now for my doors and rear panels. Do you think you could give me a hand installing them? (they will just be ran by my headunit not an extra amp). I also have a capacitor coming mid-week this week but I'm petty sure I can handle that myself.

As for our meet, I guess we'll just have to meet up and see what everyone is interested in doing. I have a feeling it's going to be a spur of the moment thing!

On a lighter note; if you've been paying attention to the interior cosmetics section, I've pretty much converted all the stock lighting in the cougar over to blue :)

has anyone that will be at this meet done their HVAC gauges? I have a new set that I wouldnt mind trying it on if someone wants to assist me with it...

I have been looking at your interior pictures, and I think I'm going to harass you to give me a hand converting my switches, cause, well, I have 0 skills when it comes to soldering and electronics leaves me basically dumbfounded. I can figure out wiring and such, but I just can't seem to get a grip on doing a clean job with it all. So, yeah, since you aren't too far away, maybe we can meet up once or twice in the near future and you can give me a hand with some of the lighting.

As for the HVACs, I don't think anyone has had much success with them. If you are interested in helping me out with the color conversion maybe I can help you out with painting the headlights *wink* *wink*

I am thinking I will get there around 10-11am on sunday.

I don't think he comes on the boards anymore, but seeing as how he lives like 5 minutes from where we're meeting he will probably be interested if he has time. Hey folks, I've been fighting something for the last couple of days and my status on the meet is not looking good as of this morning. I think if I show up it will be a last minute decision and I'll show up a lot later than I expected cause I would like to get as much rest as possible before a day of driving for 4 hours. I'll update you all on my situation later today and tomorrow.

Allright guys, This is what Empire is famous for................planning a meet then letting it die out right before the actual meet! That's not gonna happen this time! Hey I'm still going and I don't even have a cougar :banhim: (ban her) I honestly don't know if you guys are going to be able to do any real modding in Xgates! They tend to look down on that. Why don't we all just use this as a "lets all meet eachother" meet. Seeing as how I have only met maybe 1/2 of the people in empire now. We can go get a bite to eat together, talk about our cars :) then maybe do a cruise later. I still think that meeting at xgates is a good idea, I'll probably be there around 11:30-12ish. My lawn is mowed, and I have things for about 12 people to sit on. Have a barbecue, and the bathroom hasn't been completely ripped apart. Other than the piles of blacktop in the backyard (I ripped up the "patio" area...it was ugly), and the pile of brush, it's all good. Everyone's welcome to come hang out here if you want for a barbecue. I'm about 15 minutes west of Crossgates, the grocery store is only a mile down the road, so it can be a last minute thing! (Weather channel does say showers, but who knows what that means...all it did was sprinkle today.) I'll be at Crossgates around 11.

From exit 24, it's about 3 minutes. When you get out of the tolls, stay all the way to the right. You'll be on I-87 (not the thruway, I-87) for maybe 0.2miles. You can see the exit for x-gates right away.

They don't call it I-87 from the exit. Getting on anything that says 87 from the tolls will send you north.

Edit: just got back from over there, it's

Thruway Exit 24 (left exit if you're coming from the west),
immediately following the tolls,
Exit 1S - To (NYS Route) 20 Western Ave.
this exit becomes exit to Crossgates Mall Road

@scrup - I will help you paint your headlights or at least help you pull them apart if you help me with LED modding. I will buy the LED supplies and you buy your own paint, how's that sound? I just need to know what to buy, or if you have a supply for those LEDs or know where to get them, I will just buy the resistors and LEDs from you or whatever. I have no clue what to do, honestly. I live in Poughkeepsie. Not far at all from Albany. Like an hour and a half. I am actually in Hyde Park.

I am still down for whatever. My cellphone is 845-797-0689. I will see you all around that time in front of JC Pennys. Park as close to the road as you can so we can all spot the group, and we are out of the way so security doesn't bother us. Should be a fun time. I am planning on leaving around 4-5, so I don't have enough time really to help you paint tomorrow, but since you are close enough, I won't mind coming up another day, or having you come down here, or whatever.

LOL Brian, thanks for not only posting the cougarless thing but also capitalizing it just so everyone doesn't miss it. haha. I had a great time talking w/everyone, hopefully we can do it again soon and next time it won't rain, I won't be sick, and I'll HAVE my cougar ;-) lol. and yes, my car is laser red, but I'm insisting that the Ziebart Diamond Gloss that I had put on the car has changed the color a little, made it more red than it was.

I think I'll go to the Can-Am adventure next month,

hey everyone, I had a great time today. Glad to get some of my switches finally done and can't wait to finish the rest at some point. Maybe next time we can skip the rain?

Thanks to the West members who made it out to the East. Good to see some new faces. Of course, this was almost all new faces for me, lol.

Hey guys (and girls) I had a great time yesterday and it was nice to finally meet some of you. All the pics came out great! Hopefully we can get together again soon and Amanda won't pic a rainy day lol j/k. Also, the little caravan back west with RedXIII and MikeUB was fun too. Three cougars swerving in and out of traffic at 80 plus!
